Inleiding
Vrijstaand voormalig postkantoor met woonhuis voor de postbode, gebouwd omstreeks 1900. Het pand is gebouwd in de stijl van het traditionalisme.
Het ontwerp wordt toegeschreven aan architect L. Kooken uit Eindhoven. Het voormalig postkantoor en woonhuis is in de dorpskern gesitueerd nabij de parochiekerk van Griendtsveen.
Omschrijving
Het vrijstaand voormalig postkantoor met woonhuis heeft een rechthoekig grondplan. Het pand telt een bouwlaag plus dakverdieping en wordt afgedekt met een wolfsdak met rode kruispannen. Houten dakoverstek op consoles.
Rechthoekige houten deuren en vensters. Bovenlichten met roedeverdeling. Rondboogvormige en segmentboogvormige vulstukken met hierin decoratief metselwerk. Vensters met houten luiken.
Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen; metselwerk in kruisverband. Hardstenen dorpelstenen. Gepleisterde plint.
Voorgevel is niet geheel symmetrisch ingedeeld. Middendeel voorgevel risaleert en heeft een topgevel met wolfsdak. In de eerste bouwlaag risalerend geveldeel een driedelig venster; in de topgevel twee kleine vensters. In het terugliggend rechtergeveldeel de niet authentieke voordeur. Voordeur onder een kleine houten luifel gedekt met dakpannen. Aan de rechterzijde van de voordeur een dubbel venster. In het terugliggend linkergeveldeel een niet authentiek dubbel venster: oorspronkelijk bevond zich op de plaats van het venster de deur naar het postkantoor.
In de linkerzijgevel in de eerste bouwlaag een dubbel venster; aan de linkerzijde van dit venster een klein driedelig venster. In de topgevel van de linkerzijgevel een klein rechthoekig venster.
In de rechterzijgevel in de eerste bouwlaag twee dubbele vensters. Tussen de beide vensters een geprofileerd schoorsteenkanaal. In het linkerdeel van de topgevel een klein rechthoekig venster.
In het rechterdeel van de achtergevel een niet authentieke segementboogvormige houten deur. Aan de linkerzijde van deze deur een smal rechthoekig venstertje. Aan de linkerzijde van de deur een rechthoekig venster met bovenlicht met roedeverdeling: het vensterkozijn is niet authentiek. Aan de linkerzijde van dit venster bevond zich oorspronkelijk een hoge deur, deze is omstreeks 1995 vervangen door een klein rechthoekig venster.
De structuur van het interieur van het pand is in beperkte mate in tact. De uitmonstering van het interieur is gemoderniseerd.
Waardering
Het voormalig postkantoor van Griendtsveen met woonhuis bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een klein postkantoor met woonhuis voor een veenontginningskolonie een zogeheten companytown.

To the left of the door a rectangular window with fanlight with glazing bars: the window frame is non-authentic. To the left of this window originally a tall door was located; this was replaced around 1995 by a small rectangular window.
The structure of the interior of the building is intact to a limited extent. The fitting out of the interior is modernised.
