8. Het GRAFMONUMENT VAN ROSENDAEL
Omschrijving
Het GRAFMONUMENT VAN ROSENDAEL is ca. 1900 vervaardigd in neogotische stijl vermoedelijk door de steenhouwer H.A. Euwens (1840-1910). Het grafmonument bestaat uit een neogotische open grafkapel op een sokkel en een tombe van zwart graniet op een hardstenen sokkel. De hardstenen grafkapel heeft een vierkant grondplan en een zadeldakje.
De VOORGEVEL van de kapel heeft een topgevel met schouderstukken en een geprofileerde lijst en een tootboogvormig afgesloten opening, die wordt omlijst door twee zuilen op postamenten, die zijn voorzien van composietkapitelen. Op de postamenten staan amforen in reliëf afgebeeld. In de zwikken bevinden zich kruisen en een bloemmotief in reliëf. De zijgevels hebben een driepasboogvormig afgesloten venster. In de kapel staat een marmeren beeld van een treurende engel, die in zijn rechter hand een bloemenkrans vasthoudt en met zijn linker arm leunt op een marmeren rotsblok met het opschrift: "LIEFDE/ BLIJFT". Het met klimop begroeide kruis heeft een Christusmonogram in reliëf, geflankeerd door de Griekse letters alfa en omega. Description
The GRAVE MONUMENT VAN ROSENDAEL was made ca. 1900 in neo-gothic style presumably by the stonemason H.A. Euwens (1840-1910). The grave monument consists of a neo-gothic open grave chapel on a socle and a tomb of black granite on a freestone socle. The freestone grave chapel has a square ground plan and a saddle roof.
The FRONT FACADE of the chapel has a top gable with shoulder pieces and a profiled cornice and a toothed arch-shaped opening, which is framed by two columns on pedestals, which are provided with composite capitals. On the pedestals are amphorae depicted in relief. In the spandrels are crosses and a floral motif in relief. The side facades have a trefoil arch-shaped window. In the chapel stands a marble statue of a grieving angel, who holds a flower wreath in his right hand and leans with his left arm on a marble rock with the inscription: "LIEFDE/ BLIJFT". The cross, covered with ivy, has a Christ monogram in relief, flanked by the Greek letters alpha and omega. In front of the rock stands an oil lamp on a rock base, which is adorned with a palm frond.
