5. Het GRAFMONUMENT VEERKAMP
Omschrijving
Het GRAFMONUMENT VEERKAMP is ca. 1900 vervaardigd in neogotische stijl. De grafkapel is gemaakt door de steenhouwer H.A. Euwens (1840-1910), wiens naam in het rechter postament is te lezen.
Het grafmonument bestaat uit een neogotische open grafkapel en een liggende steen. De hardstenen grafkapel heeft een vierkant grondplan, een met een waterlijst afgesloten sokkel, een zadeldakje met nagebootste rensleien en een kruisbekroning op de top en twee aangekapte zadeldakjes boven de topgeveltjes van de zijgevels, die worden bekroond met een kruisbloem.
De VOORGEVEL heeft een tootboogvormig afgesloten opening, die wordt omlijst door twee zwart granieten zuilen op postamenten en voorzien van composietkapitelen. Op het rechter postament staat het inschrift: "H.A. Euwens". De topgevel heeft schouderstukken en een geprofileerde lijst. Tussen de lijst en de boog bevinden zich banden met de opschriften: "FAMILIE" en "VEERKAMP". De ZIJGEVELS hebben twee tootboogvormig afgesloten openingen. Description
The GRAVE MONUMENT VEERKAMP was made ca. 1900 in neo-gothic style. The grave chapel was made by the stonemason H.A. Euwens (1840-1910), whose name can be read on the right pediment.
The grave monument consists of a neo-gothic open grave chapel and a lying stone. The freestone grave chapel has a square ground plan, a socle closed off with a drip moulding, a saddle roof with imitated roof tiles and a cross finial at the top and two slanted saddle roofs above the top gables of the side facades, which are crowned with a cruciform flower.
The FRONT FACADE has a toothed arch-shaped opening, which is framed by two black granite columns on pedestals and provided with composite capitals. On the right pediment is the inscription: "H.A. Euwens". The top gable has shoulder pieces and a profiled cornice. Between the cornice and the arch are bands with the inscriptions: "FAMILIE" and "VEERKAMP". The SIDE FACADES have two toothed arch-shaped openings. The rear facade has a trefoil-shaped opening in the top gable. In the chapel five marble steps lead to a marble statue of a grieving woman, who leans with her right arm on a marble cross with a Christ monogram.
The grave slab is made of black granite and bears the following inscription: "CAROLUS/ B.E. VEERKAMP/ 1850 + 1902/ JULIANA/ F.B. VEERKAMP-DEES/ 1818 + 1891/ ELISABETH A.M. VEERKAMP-TERWINDT/ 1853 + 1904".
