Inleiding
Vrijstaand LOOIERIJGEBOUW aan de doorgaande weg net buiten het centrum van Baarle-Nassau. Het pand in Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl dateert uit het laatste kwart van de negentiende eeuw en is niet meer als looierij in gebruik.
Omschrijving
Drielaags gebouw op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder zadeldak waarvan de nok evenwijdig aan de straat loopt. Het pand is uitgevoerd in recent wit geschilderde baksteen en voorzien van een gepleisterde plint. Boven de begane grond zijn zowel de voor- als de achtergevel betimmerd met geteerde planken, hierin bevinden zich luiken. Het dak is gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. Topgevels met geschulpte windveren en makelaar. De voor- en achtergevel hebben een geschulpte rand, direkt onder de goot. In de gevel zijn steekankers zichtbaar.
De begane grond telt aan de straatzijde vier traveeën met een opgeklampte getoogde deur en getoogde ramen, deze hebben stalen kozijnen met een kleine roedenverdeling. De kopse gevel heeft op de eerste en tweede verdieping hijsdeuren welke boven elkaar zijn geplaatst. Aan weerszijden daarvan ramen met roedenverdeling. Erboven de topgevel van het hijswiel. In het interieur bevindt zich in de nok nog een originele takelinstallatie.
Waardering
De looierij is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van de nijverheid en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de kleine ambachtelijke leerlooierij. Het is architectuurhistorisch van belang vanwege de stijl. Het gebouw is tevens van belang vanwege de gaafheid van het exterieur.

Detached TANNERY BUILDING on the through road just outside the centre of Baarle-Nassau. The building in Artisanal-Traditional style dates from the last quarter of the nineteenth century and is no longer in use as a tannery.
Description
Three-storey building on a rectangular plan under a gabled roof with the ridge running parallel to the street. The building is executed in recently whitewashed brick and provided with a rendered plinth. Above the ground floor both the front and rear facades are boarded with tarred planks, in which are set shutters. The roof is covered with improved Dutch tiles. Topped gables with scalloped wind braces and maker's mark. The front and rear facades have a scalloped moulding, directly under the gutter. Wall anchors (ornamental) are visible in the facade.
The ground floor has four bays on the street side with a clamped arched door and arched windows, these have steel frames with small glazing bars. The end gable has hoist doors on the first and second storey which are placed one above the other. On either side of these are windows with glazing bars. Above the topped gable of the hoist wheel. In the interior there remains in the roof ridge an original tackle installation.
Valuation
The tannery is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical significance as an example of the socio-economic development of industry and as an example of the typological development of the small artisanal leather tannery. It is of architectural-historical significance because of its style. The building is also of importance because of the intactness of its exterior.
