Inleiding
WOONHUIS uit het tweede kwart van de 17de eeuw. Deze voormalige herberg ligt in het Nederlandse deel van Loveren, dat aan de route Den Bosch-Tilburg-Hoogstraten-Antwerpen een belangrijk verkeersknooppunt was. Het huis is nu in gebruik als dubbel woonhuis. Het heeft een aangebouwd bedrijfsgedeelte met meerdere aanbouwen achter.
Beschrijving
Het eenlaags woonhuis met rechthoekige plattegrond heeft gepleisterde gevels, de voorgevel heeft een blokverband. Het i s gedekt met een zadeldak met rode muldenpannen tussen topgevels met in- en uitzwenkende belijning tussen trappen met natuurstenen afdekplaten. Het dak heeft aan de achterkant een aanzienlijk lagere dakvoet. Op de aansluiting bedrijfspand/huis heeft de topgevel aan de achterkant haar modellering verloren. De rechter topgevel is rond afgesloten. Op de linker topgevel en rechts van het midden op het dak schoorstenen. Onder de dakrand van de voorgevel loopt een bakstenen muizentand. Het metselwerk heeft, waar zichtbaar, kruisverband met klezoren. Zeven sierankers met spitse beëindiging en krullen van een type dat in de 17de eeuw in Breda gangbaar was, verdelen de voorgevel in zes traveeën. Hierin liggen twee vernieuwde deuren met hoog bovenlicht en rechts van iedere ingang twee vernieuwde T-vensters. Voor het huis loopt een smalle stoep. Inwendig bezit het huis een gaaf tweebeukig gebint met een enkele stijlenreeks tussen de voorste en achterste vertrekken. Het heeft een kapspant met kromstijlen.
Het bedrijfsgedeelte links tegen het huis is opgetrokken uit handvorm baksteen met een zadeldak met rode muldenpannen. De dakvoet rust op houten geprofileerde klossen. In de voorgevel ligt in het midden een opgeklampte deur met aan weerszijden een getoogd ijzeren stalraam. Rechts een modern raam. In de zijgevel in het midden een zesruits stalraam en een opgeklampt zolderluik. Staafankers in voor- en zijgevel.
Waardering
Het huis heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere herinnering aan een bedrijfsontwikkeling verbonden met de specifieke geschiedenis van de streek. Het pand bezit architectuurhistorische waarde als één van de oudste nog bestaande voorbeelden in Brabant van een historisch dorpswoonhuis. Het huis heeft ensemblewaarde wegens de situering in de oude kern van Loveren waar het deel uitmaakt van een waardevolle bebouwingsgroep die bijdraagt tot de visuele gaafheid van de dorpse omgeving.

RESIDENCE from the second quarter of the 17th century. This former inn is located in the Dutch part of Loveren, which was an important traffic junction on the Den Bosch-Tilburg-Hoogstraten-Antwerp route. The house is now in use as a double residence. It has an attached business section with multiple outbuildings at the rear.
Description
The single-storey residence with rectangular floor plan has rendered facades, the front facade has English bond. It is covered with a gabled roof with red pantiles between stepped gables with in- and out-swinging outline between steps with natural stone coping. The roof has a considerably lower eaves at the rear. At the junction of business section/house, the stepped gable at the rear has lost its modelling. The right stepped gable is rounded off. On the left stepped gable and to the right of the centre on the roof are chimneys. Below the eaves of the front facade runs a brick dentil course. The masonry has, where visible, English bond with headers. Seven ornamental wall anchors with pointed termination and curls of a type common in Breda in the 17th century divide the front facade into six bays. Within these are two renewed doors with high fanlights and to the right of each entrance two renewed T-windows. A narrow pavement runs in front of the house. Internally, the house possesses a well-preserved two-aisled timber frame with a single post series between the front and rear rooms. It has a roof truss structure with curved posts.
The business section to the left against the house is constructed of handmade brick with a gabled roof with red pantiles. The eaves rest on wooden profiled corbels. In the front facade in the centre is a clamped door with a arched iron stable window on either side. To the right a modern window.
