Omschrijving
Inleiding Voormalig STATIONSGEBOUW met inpandige DIENSTWONINGEN, thans in gebruik als restaurant annex bowlingzaal en woning. Het station werd in 1867 gebouwd bij de aanleg van de spoorlijn Tilburg-Turnhout. De bouwstijl is sober met kenmerken van de Waterstaatsstijl. Tot 1934 werd de spoorlijn gebruikt voor personen- en goederenvervoer, daarna, tot 1970 alleen nog maar voor goederenvervoer. Na het opheffen van deze functie deed de lijn nog enkele jaren dienst als toeristische attraktie, enkele jaren geleden zijn de rails verwijderd en vervangen door bestrating. Het vrijstaande pand ligt aan de rand van het centrum van Baarle-Nassau.
Omschrijving
Langgerekt rechthoekig gebouw onder zadeldak waarvan de nok evenwijdig aan de straat en de voormalige spoorlijn loopt. Het dak is voorzien van een overstek en is gedekt met kruispannen. Het geheel is uitgevoerd in oranje-rode machinale baksteen en heeft een natuurstenen plint waarboven het metselwerk gegroefd is uitgevoerd. Ter hoogte van de bovendorpels van de ramen loopt een natuurstenen cordonlijst. De gevel aan de straatzijde is zeventien vensterassen lang, per as is een raam of deur in een rondboognis aangebracht. De ramen zijn voor het merendeel negenruits met een halfrond bovenlicht met middenstijl. De kopse gevel (Stationsstraat 6) heeft een hoge deur met halfrond bovenlicht in het midden, aan weerszijden daarvan is een vierruitsraam geplaatst. Boven de deur is een klein rond raam zichtbaar. De kopse gevel aan de achterzijde heeft twee ramen, ervoor is een blokvormige éénlaags aanbouw zichtbaar.
De lange, naar het spoor gerichte gevel, heeft smalle aanbouwen over bijna de gehele lengte. Deze latere aanbouwen zijn voorzien van lessenaarsdaken.
Waardering
Het voormalige stationsgebouw is van algemeen belang. Introduction Former STATION BUILDING with incorporated SERVICE DWELLINGS, now in use as restaurant together with bowling alley and dwelling. The station was built in 1867 with the construction of the railway line Tilburg-Turnhout. The building style is sober with characteristics of the Waterstaat style. Until 1934 the railway line was used for passenger and goods transport, thereafter, until 1970 only for goods transport. After this function ceased the line served for a few years as a tourist attraction, a few years ago the rails were removed and replaced by paving. The detached building lies at the edge of the centre of Baarle-Nassau.
Description
Elongated rectangular building under a gabled roof whose ridge runs parallel to the street and the former railway line. The roof is provided with an overhang and is covered with pantiles. The whole is executed in orange-red machine-made brick and has a natural stone plinth above which the brickwork is fluted. At the height of the upper mullions of the windows runs a natural stone string course. The facade at the street side is seventeen window bays long, per bay a window or door in a round-arched recess is placed. The windows are for the most part nine-paned with a semicircular fanlight with central mullion. The end gable (Stationsstraat 6) has a tall door with semicircular fanlight in the middle, on either side of which a four-paned window is placed. Above the door a small round window is visible. The end gable at the rear has two windows, in front of it a cubic single-storey extension is visible.
The long facade facing the railway has narrow extensions along almost the entire length. These later extensions are provided with lean-to roofs.
