Inleiding
PATRONAAT, gebouwd in 1907 in Traditionalistische stijl. Het L-vormige gebouw grenst met een korte gevel aan de straat, binnen de haaks op elkaar staande vleugels ligt een klein terrein, in gebruik als parkeerplaats. Het patronaat ligt naast de RK Kerk Onze Lieve Vrouw van Bijstand nabij het centrum van Baarle-Nassau. Het gebouw is thans gedeeltelijk in gebruik als winkel, voor het grootste gedeelte als bejaardensociëteit.
Omschrijving
Het patronaat bestaat uit twee haaks op elkaar staande bouwmassa's onder zadeldak. Het pand is uitgevoerd in baksteen, het dak is gedekt met muldenpannen.
De éénlaagse hoofdmassa ligt evenwijdig aan de straat en heeft een grote verdiepingshoogte. Het dak heeft een overstek op consoles en windveren. De kopse gevels zijn voorzien van lisenen die doorlopen in een klimmend fries om de topgevels. De ingang bestaat uit een dubbele deur waarboven een bovenlicht met roedenverdeling. Deze is in het midden van de kopse gevel geplaatst. Aan weerszijden bevinden zich negenruits ramen met zesruits bovenlichten. Boven de ramen en deur zijn ijzeren profielen met rozetjes geplaatst. Op de topgevel is met witte verf het opschrift: R.K. BONDS-/EN/PATRONAATSGEBOUW/"ST. JOZEF" aangebracht. De naar de straat gerichte lange gevel heeft grote ramen met roedenverdeling als in de kopse gevel en bevat twee opgeklampte deuren. Ook hier zijn boven de ramen en deuren ijzeren profielen aangebracht.
Op een puntig uitgemetselde liseen, ongeveer in het midden van de gevel, is een beeld van St. Jozef gezet. De gevels van het haaks daaropstaande deel zijn met twee bouwlagen maar weinig hoger. De nokken van de daken zijn van gelijke hoogte. Hier is het dak voorzien van een geprofileerde goot op klossen. Op de begane grond zijn ramen en een brede poort met bovenlicht aangebracht. De ramen zijn voorzien van een breed middenkalf, daaronder bevindt zich een dubbel vierruits raam, erboven is een kleine roedenverdeling aangebracht. De ramen op de verdieping zijn veel kleiner en hebben dubbele vierruits ramen. In de kopse gevel zijn de ramen in dezelfde indeling geplaatst.
Achteraan in de zijgevel zijn kleine ramen met diefijzers zichtbaar. Achter, tegen de hoofdmassa en evenwijdig hieraan ligt een lagere, kortere bouwmassa. Dit deel heeft eveneens een zadeldak met windveer en is gedekt met muldenpannen. Direkt onder de dakrand is een tandlijst gemaakt, boven de ramen zijn strekken in het metselwerk aangebracht.
De gevel, aan de achterzijde, bevat zesruitsramen die tot laag bij de grond doorlopen en dubbele getoogde paneeldeuren. In het verlengde van deze vleugel ligt nog een klein éénlaags bouwblok onder plat dak. Het interieur op de begane grond is gemoderniseerd.
Waardering
Het patronaat is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme in het zuiden en is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het kerkelijk centrum. PATRONAGE BUILDING, built in 1907 in Traditionalist style. The patronage building consists of two building masses set at right angles to each other under a gabled roof. The building is executed in brick, the roof is covered with Spanish tiles.
The single-storey main mass lies parallel to the street and has great storey height. The roof has an overhang on corbels and wind braces. The end gables are provided with pilasters that run up into a climbing frieze around the topped gables. The entrance consists of a double door above which is a fanlight with glazing bars. This is placed in the centre of the end gable. On either side are nine-pane windows with six-pane fanlights. Above the windows and door are iron profiles with rosettes. On the topped gable the inscription in white paint reads: R.K. BONDS-/AND/PATRONAGE BUILDING/"ST. JOSEPH". The long facade facing the street has large windows with glazing bars as in the end gable and contains two clamped doors. Here too iron profiles are placed above the windows and doors.
On a pointed stone-finished pilaster, approximately in the centre of the facade, a statue of St. Joseph is placed. The facades of the part set at right angles to this have two storeys but are not much taller. The roof ridges are of equal height. Here the roof is provided with a profiled gutter on corbels. On the ground floor are windows and a wide gate with fanlight. The windows are provided with a wide central mullion, below this is a double four-pane window, above is a small glazing bar subdivision. At the rear in the side facade are small windows with bars visible. Behind, against the main mass and parallel to it, lies a lower, shorter building mass. This part also has a gabled roof with wind brace and is covered with Spanish tiles. Directly under the eaves line is a dentil course, above the windows are stretchers in the brickwork.
The facade, on the rear side, contains six-pane windows that extend down close to the ground and double arched panel doors. In the extension of this wing lies a small single-storey building block under a flat roof. The interior on the ground floor has been modernized.

The patronage building is of general importance. It has cultural-historical significance as a particular expression of the development of Catholicism in the south and is also of importance for the typological development of the ecclesiastical centre.
