Inleiding.
Aan de noordzijde van het complex ligt het aan drie zijden vrij liggende SCHOOLGEBOUW, gebouwd in Eclectische stijl, met rechts het schoolplein van de nieuwe school. Aan de achterkant ligt een aanbouw onder plat dak en tussen school en woning een tussenbouw onder plat dak met de ingang. Hierboven is een gevelsteen zichtbaar met de tekst: A.M.EDE TOMBBEURG../ J.L.KINGMANS, J.NEDERHOUW WETHs/M.SCHAAP, A.STRUICK, J.H.F.BRON jz, J.H.VAN MOOK, W.A.G.v.d.COLFF/ 1878. Op dit moment is er een bedrijf in gevestigd waarvoor in ca. 1982 een tussenzolder is gelegd.
Omschrijving.
Het diepe pand beslaat een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt een hoge bouwlaag met zolderverdieping onder een met zwarte kruispannen gedekt zadeldak met windveren. Aan de dakvoet zinken goten op beugels. Het pand is opgetrokken in kruisverband baksteen met gesneden voeg, rondom loopt een gecementeerde plint. De dikte van de muren verloopt van tweesteens beneden via anderhalfsteens naar eensteens op de zolder. De voor- en zijgevels worden op de hoeken begrensd door gepleisterde blokpilasters waartussen onder de vlakke daklijst een rondboogfries de zijgevels beëindigt. De zuidelijke zijgevel is blind, de achtergevel heeft slechts een eenruits zolderraam. Het gevelveld in de top van de voorgevel is ingevuld met witgeschilderde lijsten in geometrisch patroon met centraal een ronde opening met ijzeren roosraam. Een dergelijke ornamentering, maar dan rechthoekig, ligt tussen plint en vensters van de voor- en noordelijke zijgevel. Hierin liggen respectievelijk twee en vier zestienruitsvensters met achtruitslichten onder segmentboog. De vensters in de voorgevel hebben de oorspronkelijke ramen met smalle roeden en voorlangs schuivende lichten. De vensters in de zijgevel hebben naar binnen klappende lichten boven twaalfruitstuimelramen die zijn geplaatst na een brand. Een rechthoekig omgetrokken band met cordonlijsten sluit aan bij de kozijnindeling. Het hoofdvolume op rechthoekige plattegrond heeft twee vierkante lokalen met een tussendeur en elk een deur naar de vestibule. In het achterste lokaal ligt een trap naar de tussenzolder, waar de trap ligt naar de oorspronkelijke zolder, met drie spanten met nokstijl en een met planken belegde vloer waarvan het onderliggende plafond bestaat uit stuc op riet. De onderdorpels van de ramen bestaan uit gele geglazuurde venstertegels. De deuren zijn paneeldeuren. In de achtermuur van het achterste lokaal ligt centraal een deur naar een ruimte zonder vensters. Oorspronkelijk lag tussen het achterste lokaal en het woonhuis een vestibule met de ingang van de school waarboven een gedenksteen met bovenvermelde tekst was geplaatst. Ten gunste van de uitbreiding van de vestibule is de ingangsmuur afgebroken, maar is de natuurstenen gedenksteen in houten tondo en rustend op een cementen boog nog in situ.
De uitbreiding onder plat dak voorziet in een betegelde hal met daklichten, toiletten, en een zijkamer naast de openslaande deuren.
Waardering.
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de ontwikkeling van het onderwijs en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de dorpsschool. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde door de esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp in eclectische stijl en de detaillering en is als type van belang voor de architectuurgeschiedenis. Introduction.
On the north side of the complex lies the SCHOOL BUILDING, standing freely on three sides, built in Eclecticist style, with the schoolyard of the new school to the right. At the rear lies an extension under a flat roof and between school and dwelling a linking structure under a flat roof containing the entrance. Above this a facade stone is visible with the text: A.M.EDE TOMBBEURG../ J.L.KINGMANS, J.NEDERHOUW WETHs/M.SCHAAP, A.STRUICK, J.H.F.BRON jz, J.H.VAN MOOK, W.A.G.v.d.COLFF/ 1878. At present a business is housed here for which an intermediate floor was laid c. 1982.
Description.
The deep plot has a rectangular floor plan and comprises a high storey with attic floor under a gabled roof covered with black cross pantiles with wind ridges. At the roof line zinc gutters on brackets. The plot is constructed in English bond brickwork with cut joints, a cemented plinth runs around. The thickness of the walls varies from two-brick below via one-and-a-half brick to one-brick on the attic floor. The front and side facades are bounded at the corners by plastered block pilasters between which, under the flat roof line, a round-arch frieze terminates the side facades. The southern side facade is blind, the rear facade has only a single-pane attic window. The facade field at the top of the front facade is filled with white-painted mouldings in a geometric pattern with a circular opening with iron grille frame at the centre. Similar ornamentation, but rectangular, lies between plinth and windows of the front and northern side facade. Within these lie respectively two and four sixteen-pane windows with opening lights above segmental arch. The windows in the front facade have the original frames with narrow glazing bars and forward-sliding lights. The windows in the side facade have inward-opening lights above twelve-pane tilt windows which were installed after a fire. A rectangular framed band with cordon mouldings aligns with the window frame arrangement. The main volume on a rectangular floor plan has two square classrooms with an interconnecting door and each a door to the vestibule. In the rear classroom lies a stair to the intermediate floor, where the stair lies to the original attic, with three trusses with ridge posts and a plank-covered floor of which the underlying ceiling consists of stucco on reeds. The sills of the windows consist of yellow glazed window tiles. The doors are panelled doors. In the rear wall of the rear classroom lies centrally a door to a space without windows. Originally between the rear classroom and the dwelling house lay a vestibule with the school entrance above which a memorial stone with the above-mentioned text was placed. In favour of the extension of the vestibule the entrance wall was removed, but the natural stone memorial stone in a wooden tondo and resting on a cement arch remains in situ.
The extension under flat roof provides a tiled hall with roof lights, toilets, and a side room beside the double doors.
