Inleiding.
BOLLENSCHUUR, omstreeks 1925 opgetrokken in een functionalistische stijl. De schuur is geheel vrijstaand gelegen in de wijk 't Zand in het zuidoosten van Sleeuwijk. Het gebouw is een zeldzaam restant van de kleinschalige bollenteelt in deze regio en is een direct gevolg van de invoer van nieuwe handelsgewassen in de jaren twintig en dertig van de twintigste eeuw. De opslag van de bloembollen vereiste een aparte droogruimte met ventilatiemogelijkheden. De tuinbouwfunctie is verdwenen.
Omschrijving.
Schuur van twee bouwlagen op rechthoekige grondslag met in halfsteensverband gemetselde gevels onder een plat dak met klein overstek. Alle gevelopeningen zijn recht gesloten en hebben een latei van gewassen grintcement aan de bovenzijde. Stalen openslaande ramen met een twaalfruits roedenverdeling. Op de vier verdiepingshoeken is spaarzame ornamentiek aangebracht in de vorm van platen van kalkzandstenen. De op het westen gerichte voorgevel heeft boven de dakrand opgaande hoekpenanten. Betonnen of gecementeerde dakrand met (vervaagd) opschrift: J. Cornet. Ingang met een grote, samengestelde houten schuifdeur met glaspanelen. De deur is een ingenieus samenstelsel van schuifdeur, openslaande deur en een venster. De zuidelijke zijgevel aan de straatzijde heeft vier assen van twee boven elkaar geplaatste vensters; identiek aan die in de voorgevel. Tussen de vensters bevinden zich kleine, rechthoekige ventilatieluiken. De balklagen zijn aan de buitengevels bevestigd door smeedijzeren steekankers.
In de achtergevel bevindt zich de vierkante, gemetselde schoorsteen van de interne verwarmingsinstallatie. De schoorsteen begint ter hoogte van de verdieping en is door de overstekende dakrand heen gemetseld. In de achtergevel zijn verder nog drie vensters met stalen roedenramen geplaatst. Verder is hier de ruimte van het verwijderde stookhok met een muurtje dichtgemetseld. De noordelijke zijgevel is in detaillering identiek aan de zuidelijke. Intern is de constructie van het gebouw eenvoudig. De houten verdiepingsvloer rust op een dwars aangebrachte laag van rechthoekige balken met een centrale onderslagbalk. Deze wordt geschraagd door ruwhouten staanders. De binnenmuur is van kalkzandsteen. Op de begane grond zijn de wanden bekleed met hardboard. Via een houten steektrap aan de achterzijde is de verdieping bereikbaar. De muren zijn hier niet bekleed. De onderslagbalk van de dakbalklaag rust op ronde ruwhouten stammetjes.
Waardering.
De bollenschuur is van algemeen belang. De schuur heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere en markante uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van de tuinbouw in deze regio toen in de jaren twintig en dertig van de twintigste eeuw getracht werd nieuwe handelsgewassen in te voeren. Het object heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de kwaliteit van de toegepaste functionalistische vormgeving en detaillering. De schuur is gaaf bewaard gebleven en is als bouwtype zeldzaam in de zuidelijke provincies.

Description.
Barn of two storeys on a rectangular ground plan with walls built in half-brick bond under a flat roof with small overhang. All facade openings are straight-headed and have a lintel of raked gravel cement at the top. Steel sash windows with twelve-light glazing bars. Sparse ornamental details have been applied at the four storey corners in the form of plates of calcium silicate brick. The west-facing front facade has corner pilasters rising above the roof edge. Concrete or cemented roof edge with (faded) inscription: J. Cornet. Entrance with a large, composite wooden sliding door with glass panels. The door is an ingenious assembly of sliding door, opening door and a window. The southern side facade facing the street has four bays of two windows placed one above the other; identical to those in the front facade. Small rectangular ventilation shutters are situated between the windows. The floor joists are attached to the external facades by wrought iron strap anchors.
In the rear facade is the square, built chimney of the internal heating installation. The chimney begins at the level of the upper storey and is built through the overhanging roof edge. In the rear facade there are also three further windows with steel glazing bar frames. Further here is the space of the removed boiler room with a wall bricked in. The northern side facade is identical in detailing to the southern. Internally the construction of the building is simple. The wooden floor of the upper storey rests on a transversely laid layer of rectangular beams with a central binding beam. This is supported by rough wooden posts. The internal wall is of calcium silicate brick. On the ground floor the walls are clad with hardboard. Via a wooden stepladder at the rear the upper storey is accessible. The walls are not clad here. The binding beam of the roof truss layer rests on round rough wooden posts.
Valuation.
The bulb storage barn is of general importance. The barn has cultural-historical values as a particular and distinctive expression of the socio-economic development of horticulture in this region when in the nineteen-twenties and nineteen-thirties attempts were made to introduce new commercial crops. The object has architectural-historical value because of the quality of the applied functionalist formal design and detailing. The barn has been preserved intact and is rare as a building type in the southern provinces.
