Omschrijving
Westelijk segment van de vesting Woudrichem, deel uitmakend van achtereenvolgens de Oude Hollandse Waterlinie en Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie, bestaande uit een aanleg van aardwerken, grachten en bijbehorende bebouwing en objecten zoals hierna genoemd.
De aanleg omvat delen van een tweetal zogenoemde fronten: het westfront en het westelijk deel van het noordelijke rivierfront. Hierbinnen bevinden zich het dubbelbastion op de noordwesthoek van de vesting met aangrenzende aarden wallen, de zogenaamde courtines, het bastion te midden van het rivierfront, en de natte gracht voor het westfront.
In de natte gracht bevindt zich een gemetselde beer, bekend als de Westbeer. Deze staat in het verlengde van de Groenendijk, in aansluiting met de hier als waterkering dienst doende stadswal.

Description
Western segment of the fortification Woudrichem, forming part successively of the Old Dutch Water Line and New Dutch Water Line, consisting of an arrangement of earthworks, ditches and associated buildings and objects as named below.
The arrangement comprises parts of two so-called fronts: the west front and the western part of the northern river front. Within these are situated the double bastion on the northwest corner of the fortification with adjacent earth ramparts, the so-called curtains, the bastion amidst the river front, and the wet moat in front of the west front.
In the wet moat is a brick masonry beaver, known as the West beaver. This stands in the extension of the Groenendijk, in connection with the city wall serving here as water barrier.
