Inleiding
Het WOONHUIS is gelegen in een park in landschappelijke stijl langs de Glorieuxlaan. Het pand, dat dienst deed als de woning van de rector van het eveneens aan de Glorieuxlaan gelegen internaat Maria-oord, werd gebouwd in 1910. Het ontwerp is van de hand van de architect J. Dony. Het woonhuis vertoont elementen van de Um-1800-stijl. Een aantal elementen, zoals de ronde, ondiepe erkers, komt terug in de architectuur van het internaatsgebouw Maria-oord, eveneens naar ontwerp van Dony. Heden is het woonhuis in gebruik als bedrijfspand.
Omschrijving
Het woonhuis heeft een vierkante plattegrond en telt één bouwlaag onder een overstekend schilddak, gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. Het dak heeft één schoorsteen boven de voorgevel en een bakgoot op klossen. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in baksteen met natuurstenen elementen, zoals een hardstenen plint en aanzet- en sluitstenen in de strekken boven de vensters. In de gevels zijn sierankers aangebracht. De west-, oost- en zuidgevel hebben in het midden grote dakkapellen met een boogvormige gevelbeëindiging, afgedekt met een hardstenen lijst. De vensters op de begane grond hebben een kleine roedenverdeling en glas-in-lood bovenlichten. In de dakkapellen eveneens ramen met kleine roedenverdeling.
De zuidgevel, die uitkijkt op de Glorieuxlaan, heeft aan de rechterzijde voor de woonkamer een ronde, ondiepe erker met drie vensters met kleine roedenverdeling en een glas-in-lood bovenlicht. Links hiervan twee kruisvensters met houten luiken.
In de westgevel bevindt zich de hoofdingang, bestaand uit een houten paneeldeur onder een luifel. Links hiervan twee kleine vensters. De dakkapel boven deze gevel heeft twee vensters met schuiframen. In het midden van de noordgevel eveneens een ingang die toegang geeft tot de centrale hal. Bovenlicht met kleine roedenverdeling. Aan weerszijden hiervan twee rechtgesloten vensters met luiken. In het dakschild boven deze gevel bevindt zich een kleinere dakkapel.
De oostgevel heeft aan de rechterzijde een houten dubbele tuindeur met bovenlicht. Links in deze gevel een kruisvenster met houten luiken. In het inwendige lijkt de oorspronkelijke dispositie gehandhaafd, maar zijn nog maar weinig oorspronkelijke elementen aanwezig. Opvallend is de voor een woonhuis van bescheiden omvang vrij grote hal. Hier vinden we nog een oorspronkelijke houten trap. Van belang zijn verder onder meer de segmentbogen tussen de grote hal en de gangen, rustend op consoles met abstract-geometrische ornamenten.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang en bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling: het illustreert de betekenis van Vught als vestigingsplaats van belangrijke katholieke instellingen zoals internaten. Het object is van architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de stijl en de verzorgde detaillering. Het object heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van een groter geheel dat cultuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is.

The DWELLING is located in a park in landscape style along the Glorieuxlaan.
