Inleiding.
OVERWEG met installatie voor handmatige bediening van spoorwegbomen. Gebouwd in opdracht van de Noord-Brabantsch-Duitsche Spoorweg Maatschappij, omstreeks 1875. De spoorwegovergang in de Populierlaan maakte deel uit van het traject tussen Duitsland en Rotterdam en liep onder meer via Goch en Veghel. Thans is er nog een klein deel van over dat vooral door de CHV gebruikt wordt om te rangeren. De spoorwegbomen zijn bij een wegverbreding vervangen.
Omschrijving.
Twee paar bedieningen voor spoorwegbomen, aan de centrumzijde van de spoorlijn. De bedieningen zijn uitgevoerd in ijzer en zijn zwart geschilderd. De bedieningen bestaan uit grote ronde schijven op een standaard met kettingen en kabels die over katrollen lopen. De kabels gaan onder de grond om het geheel te bedienen.
Waardering.
De overweg met installatie voor handmatige bediening van spoorbomen is van algemeen belang en heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van een typologische en economische ontwikkeling. De objecten zijn van architectuurhistorisch en van industrieel-archeologisch belang als herinneringen aan de technische ontwikkeling van de spoorbeveiliging. De handbedieningen hebben een grote zeldzaamheidswaarde.

LEVEL CROSSING with installation for manual operation of railway gates. Built on commission of the Noord-Brabantsch-Duitsche Spoorweg Maatschappij, around 1875. The railway crossing in the Populierlaan was part of the route between Germany and Rotterdam and ran among other places via Goch and Veghel. Today only a small part remains which is mainly used by the CHV for shunting. The railway gates were replaced during a road widening.
Description.
Two pairs of controls for railway gates, on the centre side of the railway line. The controls are executed in iron and are painted black. The controls consist of large round discs on a stand with chains and cables that run over pulleys. The cables go underground to operate the whole.

The level crossing with installation for manual operation of railway gates is of general importance and has cultural-historical value as an expression of a typological and economic development.
