Inleiding
Aan de noordelijke zijde van de pleinachtige verbreding in de Kerkstraat staat, tegenover de H. Ceciliakerk, het CAFE, voorheen genaamd 'Kerkzicht', thans 'Riddershoeve'. Het lage pand dateert uit omstreeks 1880. Buiten de bescherming vallen de later geplaatste aanbouwen aan de noordelijke en noordwestelijke zijde.
Omschrijving
Het eenlaagse pand heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak, voorzien van oud-Hollandse pannen. De handgevormde bakstenen voorgevel heeft een gecementeerde plint, hardstenen dorpels, smeedijzeren muurankers en wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde houten gootlijst, voorzien van een gestuct fries. De symmetrisch ingedeelde gevel heeft een opgeklampte voordeur, voorzien van een bovenlicht. De deur wordt geflankeerd door aan beide zijden twee zesruits schuifvensters, voorzien van luiken met een diabolobeschildering.
De linker zijgevel is gedeeltelijk opnieuw ingedeeld door de plaatsing van openslaande deuren naar het terras. Verder een zesruits venster, voorzien van luiken. Op de kapverdieping een zesruits venster met vierruits bovenlicht en luiken. De gevel wordt afgesloten met een nokruiter. De achtergevel is opgetrokken in handgevormde baksteen en gaat grotendeels schuil achter de latere aanbouwen. De grotendeels blinde, eveneens in handgevormde steen opgetrokken rechter zijgevel heeft op de begane grond een beluikt zesruits schuifvenster, waarnaast een opgeklampte deur. Op de verdieping twee vierruits vensters. De gevel wordt bekroond door een nokruiter.
De indeling van de begane grond is grotendeels gewijzigd. De oorspronkelijke balklaag van de verdieping is nog aanwezig.
Waardering.
Het café is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van de culturele en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van het platteland. Het heeft ensemblewaarden wegens de architectonische kwaliteit van de bebouwing en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met kerk en wegen.
