Inleiding
Op de R.K. begraafplaats aan de Dom. Dubuissonstraat staat, aan de zuidelijke zijde, naast de calvarieberg, het in Neo-Gotische stijl uitgevoerde, geheel hardstenen GRAFTEKEN van pastoor B.J.G. van Rijckevorsel, daterende uit 1886. De pastoor, uit een bekend Brabants geslacht, was de eerste pastoor van de Berkelse parochiekerk.
In 1995-1996 is het monument gerestaureerd, waarbij het geheel is gedemonteerd en op een betonnen vloerplaat is geplaatst.
Omschrijving
In een door geprofileerde, met smeedijzeren bolkruisen bekroonde hardstenen hekpalen en laag smeedijzeren fleur-de-lys hekwerk omgeven grafperk, staat een monument bestaande uit een staande geprofileerde en trapsgewijs verjongende hardstenen opstand bekroond door een dito kruis, waartegen een liggende hardstenen sarcofaag, waarvan het deksel is uitgevoerd in kruismodel en verjongend naar het voeteneinde.
Op de staande steen een spitsboognis, omlijst door een hoogrelïef met op colonetten gesteld driepasmotief, waarin het opschrift: "Hier rust van zijn / gezegenden arbeid / de Weleerwaarde Heer / Bernardus Jacobus / Guilhelmus van Rijckevorsel / Geboren te 's-Bosch 25 / julii 1807 Overleden / te Berkel 9 november / 1886 Eerste pastoor / van deze parochie 'Zijne / blijdschap en zijne kroon / staat aldus in den Heere / geliefde'. Phil.IV.1". Op het kruis aan weerszijden het In-Hoc-Signo-monogram. Op het in plattegrond trapeziumvormige sarcofaagdeksel staat op de kruising in hoog-reliëf een miskelk met hostie afgebeeld. Aan de zuidelijke zijde in gotisch schrift op een banderol de inscriptie: de profundis clamavi ad te domine", aan de noordelijke zijde: "miserere mei deus secum magnam misericordiam tuam". Verder tegen de staande zijkanten van het deksel de initialen G-R (Guilhelmus van Rijckevorsel) en S-I (?), en tegen het voeteneinde in hoogrelïef een wapenschild, waarop drie kikvorsen.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de afspiegeling van het belang dat de geestelijkheid in de negentiende eeuwse maatschappij innam; het is tevens van belang als zeldzaam voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het pastoorsgraf. Het heeft kunsthistorische waarden wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en zeldzaam.

Introduction
On the R.K. cemetery at the Dom. Dubuissonstraat, on the southern side, next to the calvary, stands a GRAVESTONE executed in Neo-Gothic style, entirely in hardstone, of pastor B.J.G. van Rijckevorsel, dating from 1886. The pastor, from a well-known Brabant family, was the first pastor of the Berkel parish church.
In 1995-1996 the monument was restored, whereby it was entirely dismantled and placed on a concrete floor slab.
Description
In a grave plot surrounded by profiled hardstone fence posts crowned with wrought-iron ball crosses and low wrought-iron fleur-de-lys fencing, stands a monument consisting of a standing profiled and step-like tapering hardstone structure crowned by a similar cross, against which leans a lying hardstone sarcophagus, of which the lid is executed in cross model and tapering towards the foot end.
On the standing stone a pointed arch niche, framed by a high relief with a three-foil motif set on colonettes, in which the inscription: "Here rests from his / blessed labour / the Reverend / Bernardus Jacobus / Guilhelmus van Rijckevorsel / Born at 's-Bosch 25 / July 1807 Died / at Berkel 9 November / 1886 First pastor / of this parish 'His / joy and his crown / thus stands in the Lord / beloved'. Phil.IV.1". On the cross on either side the In-Hoc-Signo monogram. On the sarcophagus lid, trapezium-shaped in plan, at the crossing is depicted in high relief a chalice with host. On the southern side in Gothic script on a banderol the inscription: "de profundis clamavi ad te domine", on the northern side: "miserere mei deus secum magnam misericordiam tuam". Further against the standing side edges of the lid the initials G-R (Guilhelmus van Rijckevorsel) and S-I (?), and against the foot end in high relief a coat of arms, on which three frogs.
Valuation
The object is of general importance. It has cultural-historical values as a particular expression of a spiritual development, namely the reflection of the importance that the clergy held in nineteenth-century society; it is also of importance as a rare example of the typological development of the pastor's grave. It has art-historical values because of the particular use of materials and ornamentation. It has been preserved intact and is rare.
