Voormalig WOONHUIS uit ca. 1874 in Eclectische stijl, gebouwd voor de gezusters Allegonda en Catharina van Tulder naar ontwerp van hun broer de architect Henri van Tulder (1819-1903).
Omschrijving
Het huis heeft twee bouwlagen, het wordt gedekt door een zadeldak gelegen tussen tuitgevels voorzien van grijze Oudhollandse pannen. De symmetrische voorgevel is vijf traveeën breed. De pui, voorzien van een basement, middenrisaliet en hoekpilasters, wordt aan de bovenkant afgesloten door een kroonlijst. In het midden bevindt zich een gesneden voordeur met bovenlicht. De deur bevat twee glas- en bossingpanelen en doorzichtroosters van siersmeedwerk. Aan weerszijden twee T-vormige schuifvensters. Op de tweede bouwlaag bevinden zich vijf van dergelijke vensters, echter met getoogde bovenlichten. De vensters zijn afgezet met geprofileerde stuclijsten en aan de bovenkant voorzien van een kuifbekroning met opzij bladmotieven. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit een hardstenen basement met daarop een witgepleisterde gevel, die aan de bovenkant wordt afgesloten door een kroonlijst en fries met daarin opgenomen tien voluutvormige consoles. Bovendien is de pui voorzien van imitatie blokpleisterwerk.
Waardering
Het herenhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de aanleg van nieuwe stedenbouwkundige structuren in het kader van de bloei van de industriestad; het is van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het herenhuis. Architectuurhistorisch is het waardevol vanwege de stijl, de ornamentiek en het materiaalgebruik en als voorbeeld van het werk van de architect Van Tulder. Former DWELLING HOUSE from circa 1874 in Eclectic style, built for the sisters Allegonda and Catharina van Tulder to the design of their brother the architect Henri van Tulder (1819-1903).
Description
The house has two storeys and is covered by a gabled roof set between spout gables provided with grey Oudhollands tiles. The symmetrical front facade is five bays wide. The facade, provided with a basement, centre projection and corner pilasters, is terminated at the top by a cornice. In the middle there is a carved front door with a fanlight. The door contains two glass and bossing panels and transparent grilles of ornamental wrought iron. On either side two T-shaped sash windows. On the second storey there are five such windows, however with arched fanlights. The windows are framed with moulded plaster bands and provided at the top with a cresting with leaf motifs on either side. The external wall consists of an ashlar basement with above it a whitewashed facade, which is terminated at the top by a cornice and frieze containing ten volute-shaped consoles. Furthermore the facade is provided with imitation ashlar work.
Valuation
The townhouse is of general importance. It has cultural historical significance as an example of a socio-economic development, namely the establishment of new urban structures in the context of the flourishing of the industrial city; it is significant for the typological development of the townhouse.
