Inleiding
Voormalig WOONHUIS uit 1898, in Eclectische stijl, gebouwd voor paraplufabrikant Guillaume Gimbrère naar ontwerp van de Tilburgse architect J.A. Blomjous. De firma is opgericht in 1853. In het woonhuis bevindt zich nu 'Maison Teulings', een winkel voor damesmode. Het huis ligt aan de Stationsstraat op de kop van een rechthoekig perceel. In de achtergevel bevindt zich een gevelsteen met het volgende opschrift: "Guillaume Gimbrère 30 juni 1898". De naastgelegen in 1956 gesloten paraplufabriek (Fabriekstraat 6), in 1997 in gebruik als woon- en pakhuis, ligt op het aanliggende L-vormige perceel. Het woonhuis heeft nog steeds een achterom via een overbouwde poort naar de voormalige paraplufabriek.
Omschrijving
Het tweelaagse woonhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond. Het wordt gedekt door een leien mansardekap, met de nok parallel aan de straat. De symmetrische pilastergevel is vijf traveeën breed. De middelste travee bevat een monumentale rondboogvormige ingangspartij met stucomlijsting, een recente glazen voordeur en bovenlicht. Het opgaande werk van de voorgevel bestaat uit witgeschilderd pleisterwerk op baksteen afgewisseld door een hardstenen plint en cordonlijst. De gevel wordt gesloten door een ries met houten kroonlijst voorzien van snijwerk. Onder de goot gestoken gootklossen. Het pleisterwerk van pilasters, cordon en fries is rijkelijk voorzien van geprofileerd ornament- en lijstwerk. De kroonlijsten worden gedragen door voluutvormige stenen consoles. De achtergevel, die sober is uitgevoerd in schoonmetselwerk, heeft op de tweede bouwlaag getoogde vensters en muuropeningen met een zesruits verdeling. Achter het woonhuis bevindt zich in een aanbouw een washuis gedekt door een lessenaarsdak. Twee toegangsdeuren en meerdere rondboogvensters. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit schoonmetselwerk in rode baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband afgewisseld door siermetselwerk in fries en bogen van grijze en gele baksteen. Het interieur van het woonhuis heeft in de gang en kamers van de begane grond meerdere portes-brisées met vier bossingpanelen. Een hiervan is uitgevoerd met glasdeuren bezet met geëtste en gezandstraalde motieven in spiegelglas. In de kamers vier rijk bewerkte stucplafonds met florale motieven en plafond-engeltjes, marmeren schoorsteenmantels en vierpaneels deuren. Wit marmeren gang en hal met een lambrizering in bas-reliëf van papierstuc met een repeterende ornamentale opdruk. Bordestrap met gedraaide trappaal en gietijzeren balustrade.

The two-storey residential house has a rectangular floor plan. It is covered by a slate mansard roof, with the ridge parallel to the street. The symmetrical pilaster facade is five bays wide. The rendered work of pilasters, cordon and frieze is abundantly provided with profiled ornamental and moulding work. The cornices are supported by scroll-shaped stone consoles. The rear facade, executed soberly in exposed brickwork, has on the second storey round-arched windows and wall openings with a six-pane glazing. Behind the residential house there is a wash-house in an extension covered by a lean-to roof. Two entrance doors and several round-arched windows. The external wall consists of exposed brickwork in red brick laid in English bond alternated by decorative brickwork in frieze and arches of grey and yellow brick. The interior of the residential house has in the hallway and rooms of the ground floor several folding doors with four raised-panel sections. One of these is executed with glass doors set with etched and sandblasted motifs in mirror glass. In the rooms four richly worked stucco ceilings with floral motifs and ceiling cherubs, marble fireplace surrounds and four-panel doors. White marble hallway and entrance hall with a wainscoting in low relief of papier mâché with a repeating ornamental impression. Wooden staircase with twisted stairpost and cast-iron balustrade.
