Inleiding
Het KOETSHUIS werd in 1909 gebouwd in de Eclectische stijl van het huis naar ontwerp van architect F.C. de Beer. Het pand bevindt zich achter het herenhuis met de ingang aan de zijde van de Veemarktstraat. De ingangspartij werd rond 1980 uitgebroken en vereenvoudigd. Het gebouw dient als garage.
Omschrijving
Het eenlaagse gebouw heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en een plat dak met schilden rondom, waarop leien in rensdekking. Het pand is aan twee zijden ingebouwd.
De gevels zijn wit gepleisterd met uitzondering van de verspringend geplaatste hardstenen hoekblokken en plint. De voorzijde is uitgebroken als open toegang. Hierboven een topgevel met rondboog en raam met halfrond bovenlicht. Als bekroning dient een smeedijzeren windvaan. Dubbele bewerkte consoles steunen op de hoeken en bij de topgevel de geprofileerde houten gootlijst. Links van de topgevel een venster met plat dak. De rechterzijgevel bezit twee hoog in de muur geplaatste kleine ramen met oreillon-omlijsting. Midden in het dakvlak is een dakkapel onder plat dak uitgespaard.
Waardering
Het koetshuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van fabrikantenvilla's aan de oude hoofdstructuur van de stad en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de fabrikantenvilla. Het is van architectuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de toepassing van Eclectische stijlvormen voor de representatie van de nieuwe rijken, vanwege de harmonische gevelcompositie en als voorbeeld van het oeuvre van de architect. The single-storey building has a rectangular floor plan and a flat roof with hipped roof sections around it, covered with slate in German bond. The building is built in on two sides.
The facades are whitewashed plaster with the exception of the staggered hardstone corner blocks and plinth. The front has been opened as an open access. Above this a stepped gable with rounded arch and a window with semi-circular fanlight. A wrought-iron weathervane serves as the crown. Double worked consoles rest on the corners and at the stepped gable the profiled wooden drip moulding. To the left of the stepped gable a window with flat roof. The right side facade has two small windows set high in the wall with oreillon surround. In the middle of the roof plane a roof dormer under flat roof has been set back.

The coachhouse is of general interest. It has cultural-historical significance as an example of socio-economic development, namely the establishment of manufacturers' villas on the old main structure of the city and as an example of the typological development of the manufacturers' villa.
