Inleiding
TOEGANGSHEK behorende bij het in de jaren 1936-1937 in opdracht van James van Hoey Smith tot stand gekomen complex landgoed Strypemonde. Het aan het begin van de lange oprijlaan naar het voormalige jachthuis gesitueerde toegangshek is uitgevoerd naar een traditionalistisch ontwerp van architect J.W. Janzen.
Omschrijving
Het vrijwel symmetrische toegangshek bestaat uit houten hekken tussen gemetselde hekpijlers. De brede openslaande hekdelen, die de oprijlaan afsluiten zijn vervaardigd van niet op elkaar aansluitende, liggende planken, die aan de uiteinden met elkaar zijn verbonden door staande planken en bovendien een diagonaalverbinding hebben. De hekken staan tussen gemetselde rechthoekige hekpijlers met steunberen en een bolbekroning. Lateraal van beide hekpijlers staat nog een kleiner draaihek. Deze staan tussen voornoemde pijlers en twee kleinere versies van deze pijlers met aan Windgatsewegzijde een hier dwars opstaande muur die naar buiten wegloopt met een welving.

Het toegangshek is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde, de ensemblewaarde en de architectuurhistorische waarde.

ENTRANCE GATE belonging to the country estate Strypemonde complex created in the years 1936-1937 on commission of James van Hoey Smith. The entrance gate situated at the beginning of the long driveway to the former hunting lodge is executed according to a traditionalist design by architect J.W. Janzen.

The virtually symmetrical entrance gate consists of wooden gates between masonry gate piers. The wide opening gate sections, which close off the driveway are made of non-aligned, horizontal planks, which are connected at the ends by vertical planks and moreover have a diagonal connection. The gates stand between rectangular masonry gate piers with buttresses and a convex coping. Laterally of both gate piers stands a smaller swing gate. These stand between the aforementioned piers and two smaller versions of these piers with on the Windgatsewegzijde a wall here standing transversely which runs outward with a curvature.
