Neo-Gotische CALVARIEGROEP uit ca. 1890 op de Ravensteinse R.K. begraafplaats. De groep staat aan het einde van het middenpad opgesteld en is vervaardigd door de beeldhouwer A. van Asseldonk.

De calvariegroep is gesigneerd (A. van Asseldonk) en bestaat uit drie piramide-vormige, aan elkaar verheelde kunststenen sokkels, gevoegd in imitatie-breuksteenverband, waarop centraal een kalkstenen beeld van de gekruisigde Christus, geflankeerd door Maria en Johannes. Het kruis is van ijzer en heeft diverse breuken. De sokkels hebben hardstenen dekplaten en de inscriptie: "Pie Jesu dona eis requiem" en "Requiescat in pace".
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur. Het heeft architectuuhistorische waarde vanwege de stijl en als voorbeeld van het werk van het atelier Van Asseldonk. Description
The calvary group is signed (A. van Asseldonk) and consists of three pyramid-shaped, mutually attached artificial stone plinths, jointed in imitation-ashlar bond, on which centrally stands a limestone image of the crucified Christ, flanked by Mary and John. The cross is of iron and has various breaks. The plinths have hardstone coping slabs and the inscription: "Pie Jesu dona eis requiem" and "Requiescat in pace".
Valuation
The object is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic grave culture. It has architectural-historical value because of the style and as an example of the work of the Van Asseldonk atelier.
