Inleiding
Naast de calvariegroep staat op de R.K. begraafplaats van Ravenstein het GRAFMONUMENT van pastoor A. van de Brand, daterend uit omstreeks 1879. Het monument is gemaakt in het atelier van J. Schumaker te 's-Hertogenbosch. Het grafteken is, mèt het eigenlijke graf, omstreeks 1985 enkele meters verplaatst.
Omschrijving
Het betreft een circa twee meter hoge hardstenen stèle met sokkel en dekplaat. Boven de marmeren plaquette is in hoog-reliëf een kelk afgebeeld. Op de plaquette de tekst: " P.M. / PL. Rev.Dni.
A. v.d. Brand / Qui natus in Zeeland 1805 / can. ecel. Cath.
Decanus / Et Par. Ravensteinii 1865 / Ibid obiit 10 apr. 1879 / R.I.P.". Op de sokkel een inscriptie: "J. Schumaker, 's-Bosch"
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur. Introduction
Besides the calvary group, on the R.C. cemetery of Ravenstein stands the GRAVE MONUMENT of Pastor A. van de Brand, dating from around 1879. The monument was made in the workshop of J. Schumaker in 's-Hertogenbosch. The grave marker, together with the actual grave, was moved several metres around 1985.
