Inleiding.
Standbeeld van de uit Oisterwijk geboortige katholieke literator (1605-1674) Adriaan Poirters, geplaatst in een plantsoen op het kerkplein ten westen van de Petrus Bandenkerk. Het beeld is vervaardigd in het atelier van de Gentse beeldhouwer Aloys de Beule in 1928 en gegoten in de Fonderie Verbeyst te Brussel.
Omschrijving.
Bronzen beeld, geplaatst op hardstenen sokkel met bronzen opschrift 'Pater Poirters Oisterwijk 1605 Mechelen 1674'. De sokkel heeft een basement met lijstprofiel en een geprofileerde dekplaat en is bekleed met hardstenen platen.
Het bronzen beeld toont de dichter, gezeten op een stoel, gekleed in toog met bonnet op het hoofd. Hij heft de rechterhand in spreekgebaar en heeft in de linkerhand een opengeslagen boek. Aan zijn voeten enkele boeken en een toneelmasker.
Op het voetstuk aan de zuidzijde 'Fonderie Verbeyst, Bruxelles', aan de noordzijde 'Al. de Beule'.
Waardering.
Het standbeeld is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als representant van de herdenking van een belangrijk katholiek literator ten tijde van de bloei van het katholicisme in Zuid Nederland. Statue of the Catholic man of letters (1605-1674) Adriaan Poirters, born in Oisterwijk, placed in a small garden on the church square to the west of the Petrus Bandenkerk. The statue was created in the workshop of the Ghent sculptor Aloys de Beule in 1928 and cast in the Fonderie Verbeyst in Brussels.

Bronze statue, placed on a hardstone plinth with bronze inscription 'Pater Poirters Oisterwijk 1605 Mechelen 1674'. The plinth has a basement with list profile and a moulded topstone and is clad with hardstone slabs.
The bronze statue shows the poet, seated on a chair, dressed in a gown with a bonnet on his head. He raises his right hand in a speaking gesture and holds an open book in his left hand. At his feet several books and a theatrical mask.
