Inleiding.
L-vormig WOONHUIS, uit circa 1850-1860, gelegen ten westen van de neogotische parochiekerk Sint Petrus Banden, deel uitmakend van een samenhangende straatwand van het laat-negentiende-eeuwse Kerkplein, waarvan een deel van de bebouwing overigens tot de zeventiende eeuw kan teruggaan.
Omschrijving.
Tweelaags bakstenen woonhuis onder zadeldak met oud-Hollandse pannen, met aansluitend een eenlaags haakse bedrijfsvleugel onder zadeldaken en een schansmuur met pilasters die het achtererf afsluit.
De voorgevel telt drie traveeën. Op de begane grond de voordeur met paneeldeur met schijnnaald en ongedeeld bovenlicht, geflankeerd door een zesruits schuifraam. Boven de voordeur een ovaal brandverzekeringsplaatje met een stroomgod met kruik en hoorn des overvloeds en de tekst: 'Compagnie d' Assurance de l' Escaut à Anvers'. Bakstenen stoep met vier hardstenen palen en bij de voordeur hardstenen platen. Op de verdieping drie zesruits ramen met waaierzwikken in de bovenlichten en op de zolderetage een identiek raam. Tuitgevel met vlechtingen. De linker zijgevel is gepleisterd en heeft een hooggeplaatste oculus. De achtergevel is eveneens gepleisterd en heeft telkens drie zesruits schuiframen. De haakse bedrijfsruimte is gepleisterd en heeft aan de voorzijde een licht getoogde vleugelpoort met panelen, waarvan de bovenste beglaasd zijn. In de linker zijgevel een opgeklampte deur met achtruits bovenlicht, gefankeerd door hooggeplaatste zesruits openslaande ramen. Erboven in de met een rollaag afgedekte topgevel een laadluik en twee identieke ramen. Aan de achterzijde zesruits schuiframen.
Inwendig onder meer middengang, eenvoudige stucplafonds, paneeldeuren en ramen met binnenluikjes.
Waardering.
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een woon- en bedrijfspand dat getuigt van de bloei van Oisterwijk als gevolg van de spoorverbinding. Het illustreert de typologische ontwikkeling van dergelijke panden in de periode kort na 1850. Het heeft architectonische waarde als voorbeeld van eenvoudig gedetailleerde woonhuizen in Midden-Brabant. Het pand heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van de deels beschermde dorpskern van Oisterwijk.

L-shaped HOUSE, from circa 1850-1860, situated west of the Neo-Gothic parish church Sint Petrus Banden, forming part of a connected street facade of the late nineteenth-century Kerkplein, although part of the building can date back to the seventeenth century.

Two-storey brick house under a gabled roof with old Dutch tiles, with adjoining a single-storey right-angled business wing under gabled roofs and a coping wall with pilasters which closes off the rear courtyard.
The front facade has three bays. On the ground floor the front door with panelled door with false rivet and undivided fanlight, flanked by a six-light sash window. Above the front door an oval fire insurance plate with a river god with pitcher and cornucopia and the text: 'Compagnie d' Assurance de l' Escaut à Anvers'. Brick stoop with four sandstone bollards and at the front door sandstone slabs. On the upper storey three six-light windows with waaierzwikken in the fanlights and on the attic storey an identical window. Spout gable with wattle infill. The left side gable is rendered and has a high-placed oculus. The rear gable is likewise rendered and has in each case three six-light sash windows. The right-angled business space is rendered and has at the front a slightly arched wing door with panels, of which the upper parts are glazed. In the left side gable an hinged door with eight-light fanlight, flanked by high-placed six-light casement windows. Above it in the top gable capped with a roll-moulding a loading hatch and two identical windows. At the rear six-light sash windows.
Internally amongst other features a central passage, simple stucco ceilings, panelled doors and windows with internal shutters.
Valuation.
The house is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as an example of a residential and business building that testifies to the flourishing of Oisterwijk as a result of the railway connection. It illustrates the typological development of such buildings in the period shortly after 1850. It has architectural value as an example of simply detailed houses in Central Brabant. The building has ensemble value as part of the partly protected town centre of Oisterwijk.
