Inleiding
De PRODUKTIEHAL/DROGERIJ/MAGAZIJN met voormalig KANTOORGEBOUW staat achter het huidige kantoorgebouw van de Koninklijke Verenigde Leder B.V. langs de Almystraat en links van de oude leerlooierij uit 1917. Het gebouw werd omstreeks 1924 opgetrokken in een sobere, zakelijke stijl met eenvoudige baksteenornamenten, naar ontwerp van de architect Fr. Hildner. Het gebouw huisvestte de afwerkingsruimten, de drogerij, een ledermagazijn en de kantoren van de leerfabriek. De kantoorfunctie verdween waarschijnlijk in 1928, toen langs de Almystraat een nieuw kantoorgebouw voor de fabriek werd gebouwd. De produktiehal/drogerij is later via de oostvleugel met een treindoorgang (zie omschrijving onderdeel E) verbonden met het kantoorgebouw aan de Almystraat. In het gebouw bevond de drogerij zich waarschijnlijk op de bovenverdieping, op de overige verdiepingen waren de afdelingen voor de afwerking van het leer gevestigd. De kantoren en het leermagazijn bevonden zich in de oostelijke vleugel. De binnenplaats van het U-vormige gebouw is dichtgebouwd met een eenlaags aanbouw voor de huidige drogerij/uitzetterij. Onder de bescherming valt alleen een deel van de oostvleugel, vanuit het zuiden bezien tot en met de toren uit 1924-1925, die naast de treindoorgang staat. Deze oostvleugel sluit in het zuiden aan op het kantoorgebouw aan de Almystraat.
Omschrijving
De bakstenen oostvleugel telt drie bouwlagen onder een plat dak en bevat o.m. de hoofdingang met trappenhuis (enigszins naar voren springend, ter breedte van drie assen) met links en rechts een identiek ingedeelde gevelpartij ter breedte van twee assen, waarbij tegen de rechtergevelpartij een zes assen breed bouwvolume is opgetrokken met daarin op de begane grond de treindoorgang en op de twee verdiepingen twee series van zes vensters boven elkaar. Tegen het zes assen brede bouwvolume is een bakstenen toren met een plat dak gebouwd.
Waardering
De bakstenen oostvleugel uit circa 1924 op het KVL-complex met o.m. hoofdingang, trappenhuis, treindoorgang en aangebouwde toren vertegenwoordigt algemeen belang wegens: de ouderdom; de betekenis voor de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, met name als manifestatie van de opkomst van de lederindustrie; de industrieel-archeologische waarde en als bouwkundig onderdeel van het het KVL-complex alsook wegens de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie tussen de bebouwing en het, tot op het fabrieksterrein doorgetrokken, spoorwegnet; de zeldzaamheidswaarde, met aspecten van bouwtechnische, typologische en functionele aard.

Introduction
The PRODUCTION HALL/DRYING ROOM/WAREHOUSE with former OFFICE BUILDING stands behind the current office building of Koninklijke Verenigde Leder B.V. along the Almystraat and to the left of the old tannery from 1917. The building was erected around 1924 in a sober, businesslike style with simple brick ornaments, designed by architect Fr. Hildner. The building housed the finishing rooms, the drying room, a leather warehouse and the offices of the leather factory. The office function disappeared probably in 1928, when a new office building for the factory was constructed along the Almystraat. The production hall/drying room was later connected via the east wing with a railway passage (see description of component E) to the office building on the Almystraat. The drying room was probably located on the upper floor; on the remaining floors the departments for leather finishing were housed. The offices and the leather warehouse were located in the eastern wing. The courtyard of the U-shaped building was built up with a single-storey extension for the current drying room/finishing department. Only part of the east wing is under protection, viewed from the south up to and including the tower from 1924-1925, which stands next to the railway passage. This east wing adjoins the office building on the Almystraat in the south.
Description
The brick east wing has three storeys under a flat roof and contains among other things the main entrance with stairwell (projecting somewhat forward, spanning three bays) with on the left and right an identically arranged facade section spanning two bays, against the right facade section a six-bay building volume has been erected containing on the ground floor the railway passage and on the two upper floors two series of six windows stacked above each other. Against the six-bay building volume a brick tower with a flat roof has been built.
Valuation
The brick east wing from circa 1924 on the KVL complex with among other things main entrance, stairwell, railway passage and attached tower represents general interest because of: the age; the significance for socio-economic development, in particular as a manifestation of the rise of the leather industry; the industrial-archaeological value and as an architectural component of the KVL complex as well as because of the historical-spatial relationship between the buildings and the railway network extending across the factory grounds; the rarity value, with aspects of building technique, typological and functional nature.
