Inleiding
KOETSHUIS, behorende bij het landhuis "Mariënberg", in 1893 gebouwd in opdracht van de Bossche rechter Sasse in eclectische vormen. Het koetshuis is gelegen in de zuidwestelijke hoek van de tuin die het landhuis aan alle zijden omringt.
Omschrijving
Koetshuis van één bouwlaag op rechthoekige grondslag met muren van in kruisverband gemetselde machinale baksteen onder een met Hollandse pannen gedekt zadeldak. De ingangen zijn aan de noordzijde gelegen en bestaan uit twee, elk met een segmentboog getoogde inrijpoorten. De linkse hiervan heeft dubbele houten paneeldeur; de rechtse heeft een dubbele opgeklampte deur. Naast deze deur bevindt zich een recht gesloten venster met een vierruits raam. De gevel heeft verder smeedijzeren krulankers voor de balken van de zoldering. Onder de goot bevindt zich een gemetseld muizentandfries. In het dakvlak bevindt zich centraal een dakkapel met hooiluik. De houten wangen van de dakkapel zijn gesneden in de vorm van stijgbeugels.
De overige gevels zijn sober gehouden. In de oostelijke gevel bevinden zich drie kleine ronde vensters. Langs de dakrand is een sierlijk gesneden houten windveer bevestigd.
Intern is de oorspronkelijke indeling geheel bewaard gebleven, met een grote stalling voor de rijtuigen aan de linkerkant en een paardenstalling met stenen ruif aan de rechterkant.
De houten zoldering rust op balken.
Waardering
Het koetshuis is van algemeen belang. Het koetshuis heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling waarbij de gegoede burgerij en de bestuurlijke elite zich in de directe nabijheid van 's-Hertogenbosch aan de uitvalswegen van de kleinere, meer landelijke, plaatsen daaromheen vestigen en daar een landhuis met annexen laten bouwen.
Het van architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de bijzondere samenhang tussen de samenstellende onderdelen, de typologische en de kunsthistorische kwaliteit van de toegepaste eclectische stijlelementen. Het koetshuis heeft in samenhang met het landhuis ensemblewaarde vanwege de hoogwaardige kwaliteit van de bebouwing en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met de wegen en groenvoorzieningen. Het complex is van belang vanwege de bouwtechnische en typologische zeldzaamheid die het als zodanig bezit.

COACHHOUSE, belonging to the country house "Mariënberg", built in 1893 on commission of the 's-Hertogenbosch judge Sasse in eclectic forms. The coachhouse is situated in the southwestern corner of the garden which surrounds the country house on all sides.
Description
Coachhouse of one storey on rectangular plan with walls of machine-made brick laid in Flemish bond beneath a gabled roof covered with Dutch tiles. The entrances are situated on the north side and consist of two carriage-way openings each with a segmental arch. The left-hand one has a double wooden panelled door; the right-hand one has a double battened door. Next to this door is a straight-headed window with a four-pane frame. The façade further has wrought iron curl anchors for the floor joists. Beneath the gutter is a moulded brick dentil course. In the roof plane is centrally a roof dormer with hay door. The wooden sides of the roof dormer are carved in the form of stirrups.
The remaining façades are soberly detailed. In the eastern façade are three small round windows. Along the roof edge a elegantly carved wooden weathervane is attached.
Internally the original layout has been entirely preserved, with a large carriage stable on the left-hand side and a horse stable with stone manger on the right-hand side.
The wooden flooring rests on beams.
Valuation
The coachhouse is of general importance. The coachhouse has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of the socio-economic development whereby the wealthy bourgeoisie and the administrative elite settled in the immediate vicinity of 's-Hertogenbosch at the exit roads of the smaller, more rural, places thereabouts and had a country house with annexes built there.
It is of architectural-historical importance because of the particular cohesion between the constituent components, the typological and art-historical quality of the applied eclectic style elements. The coachhouse has ensemble value in conjunction with the country house because of the high quality of the building and the historic-spatial relationship with the roads and landscaping. The complex is of importance because of the building-technical and typological rarity that it possesses as such.
