Inleiding
Aan de zuidzijde van het park bij het buitenverblijf staat, in een bosperceel, een kleine, leegstaande KAPEL. Deze werd in 1938 ingewijd. Het ontwerp is van de hand van de Oirschotse architect Becks.
Omschrijving
De handvorm bakstenen kapel heeft één bouwlaag, een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. In de zijgevels elk twee segmentboogvensters en een rechtgesloten licht. Via het door een segmentboog overtoogde portaal met een halfronde, betegelde stoep is het interieur te bereiken. Hier is een eenvoudige tegelvloer en, onder een gebombeerd tongewelf, tegen de westelijke wand een altaar met met tufstenen mensa en een kalkstenen, in hoog reliëf uitgevoerde, gesigneerde voorstelling van Christus in de werkplaats, afgebeeld met Maria met spintol en de H. Jozef ("Gebrs. v. Eck Beeldhs. Eindhoven / anno 1938"). Op de triomfboog het Christusmonogram. De glas-in-lood ramen zijn verdwenen. Tegen de oostelijke topgevel is een aangehangen klokkestoeltje. De klok ontbreekt.
Waardering
De kapel is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, met name de vernieuwing en functieverandering van buitenplaatsen in het buitengebied in het Interbellum. The hand-form brick chapel has one storey, a rectangular ground plan and is covered by a gabled roof with improved Dutch tiles. In each of the side elevations two segment arch windows and a straight-topped light. The interior is accessible via the portal surmounted by a segment arch with a semi-circular, tiled stoep. Here there is a simple tiled floor and, beneath a vaulted barrel vault, against the western wall an altar with a tuff stone mensa and a limestone, executed in high relief, signed representation of Christ in the workshop, depicted with Mary with a spindle and St. Joseph ("Gebrs. v. Eck Beeldhs. Eindhoven / anno 1938"). On the triumphal arch the Christ monogram. The stained glass windows have disappeared. Against the eastern gable elevation is an attached bell cote. The bell is missing.
Valuation
The chapel is of general interest. The object has cultural-historical significance as a particular expression of a spiritual and socio-economic development, namely the renewal and change of function of country estates in the countryside in the Interwar period.
