Inleiding
Op een omgracht terrein aan de noordwestelijke zijde van het landgoed ligt een klein WEEKENDHUIS uit 1936-'37 in traditionalistische stijl.
Omschrijving
Het huis werd gebouwd als buitenverblijf door Philips-directeur Mr. Loupart. Het terrein waarop het huis is gebouwd, is begroeid met hoog opgaande eiken met een onderbegroeiing van rhodondendrons en, langs de grachten, varens. Het terrein is aan de oostelijke zijde toegankelijk via een naoorlogse, buiten de bescherming vallende ophaalbrug. Op het terrein staat ook een voormalige dienstwoning.
Beschrijving Het eenlaags huisje heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een schilddak met daktegels. Het dak rust gedeeltelijk op houten stijlen met korbelen. Aan de zuidelijke zijde, waar via een trap een open aanlegsteiger aan het huis grenst, zijn deze in het zicht gelaten.
Belangrijk element in het gebouw is de omstreeks 1970 in een in plattegrond halfronde noordelijke aanbouw geplaatste open haard, waarvan de hoge ijzeren schoorsteen aan de noordelijke zijde van het pand zichtbaar is. Deze heeft een verjongende, vierkante doorsnede. Oorspronkelijk was deze noordelijke muur recht gesloten. De glas-in-lood ramen (atelier voor glasschilderkunst Hein F.M. Boumans, Asten) dateren uit 1951 en zijn door Quirinus Eijsbouts en Marie-Louise Loupart aangeboden ter gelegenheid van de zestigste verjaardag van O.M.E. Loupart op 24 februari 1951. In de vensters de tekst: "Ik zoek in de lucht / Ik zoek in de aarde / Ach gij narren alle vier / Wat gij zoekt is immers hier". In het gebouw is een deel van de oorspronkelijke keuken nog aanwezig. De centrale ruimte heeft een hoog spitsbogig gewelf met een driepas-doorsnede.
Waardering
Het weekendhuis is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een culturele en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, met name de vernieuwing en functieverandering van buitenplaatsen in het buitengebied in het Interbellum.
