Inleiding
Aan de westelijke zijde van de Ginnekenweg staat het WOONHUIS annex CAFE met BOVENWONING, gebouwd in 1902-'03 naar een ontwerp van de Bredase architecten P.A. Oomens en L. van der Pas. Het object is gebouwd in de stijl van de Art Nouveau.
Reeds in 1906 is de begane grond van het woonhuis no. 334 uitgebroken en vervangen door een winkelpui, eveneens in de stijl van de Art Nouveau en aangepast aan de pui van het café op no. 336. In 1927, 1939 en 1940 hebben diverse kleine interne verbouwingen plaatsgevonden. In 1967 is de winkel verbouwd tot café. In 1989 is het houten kozijn van de winkelpui vernieuwd.
De straatwand van de Ginnekenstraat is ter plaatse aaneengesloten bebouwd.
Omschrijving
Het object heeft een globaal rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen plus een kapverdieping. Het wordt gedekt door een afgeplat schilddak met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. Op de topgevel een zadeldak met later geplaatste asbest-leien.
De gevels zijn opgetrokken in baksteen, met banden, strekken en lijsten in rode, witte en groenkleurige strengperssteen. De voormalige winkelpui is opgetrokken in natuursteen. De lateien, alsmede de dorpels van de rechtgesloten vensters op de verdieping zijn van hardsteen. De voorgevel wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde gootlijst op consoles. Het fries is voorzien van siermetselwerk.
De voorgevel heeft een asymmetrische indeling met op de begane grond afwisselend om-en-om geplaatst drie voordeuren en twee winkel/café-puien, alle in een zware natuurstenen omlijsting, terwijl op de verdieping afwisselend drie T-schuifvensters (indeling deels vereenvoudigd) met houten rolluiken en glas-in-lood bovenlichten, en een tweetal houten erkers zijn geplaatst. De linker erker heeft een driehoekige plattegrond terwijl de vensters zijn voorzien van houten rolluiken, de rechter heeft een driekantige plattegrond en een plat dak. De topgevel boven de rechter erker heeft een fors overstek en een samengesteld rondboogvenster. Op het plat dak staat een tweetal schoorstenen met siermetselwerk. Tegen het dakschild aan de straatzijde twee eenvoudige dakkapellen.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarden: het is van belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van Breda, met als detail de functieverandering van woonhuis tot winkel; het object heeft architectuurhistorische waarden: het is van belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek in de vormen van de Art Nouveau, het is een goed voorbeeld van het werk van de architecten Oomens en Van der Pas die de Art Nouveau in Breda representeren; gaafheid/herkenbaarheid: het object is van belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur.

Introduction
On the western side of Ginnekenweg stands the RESIDENTIAL HOUSE together with CAFE with UPPER DWELLING, built in 1902-'03 to a design by the Breda architects P.A. Oomens and L. van der Pas. The object was built in the style of Art Nouveau.
Already in 1906 the ground floor of the residential house no. 334 was removed and replaced by a shopfront, also in the style of Art Nouveau and adapted to the frontage of the café at no. 336. In 1927, 1939 and 1940 various small internal alterations took place. In 1967 the shop was converted into a café. In 1989 the wooden frame of the shopfront was renewed.
The street frontage of Ginnekenstraat is continuously built up at this location.
Description
The object has a roughly rectangular floor plan and has two storeys plus a roof storey. It is covered by a hipped roof with improved Dutch tiles. On the gable a gabled roof with later-placed asbestos slate.
The facades are built in brick, with bands, stretches and mouldings in red, white and greenish coloured pressed brick. The former shopfront is built in natural stone. The lintels, as well as the sills of the straight-sided windows on the storey are sandstone. The front facade is finished with a profiled gutter moulding on corbels. The frieze is provided with decorative brickwork.
The front facade has an asymmetrical arrangement with on the ground floor alternately placed three front doors and two shop/café frontages, all in a heavy natural stone surround, while on the storey alternately three T-sash windows (arrangement partly simplified) with wooden rolling shutters and leaded glass fanlights, and two wooden bay windows are placed. The left bay window has a triangular floor plan while the windows are provided with wooden rolling shutters, the right one has a three-sided floor plan and a flat roof. The gable above the right bay window has a substantial overhang and a composite arched window. On the flat roof stand two chimney stacks with decorative brickwork. Against the roof covering on the street side two simple roof dormers.
Valuation
The object is of general importance. It has cultural-historical values: it is of importance as a particular expression of the socio-economic development of Breda, with as a detail the change of function from residential house to shop; the object has architectural-historical values: it is of importance because of the particular use of materials and the ornamentation in the forms of Art Nouveau, it is a good example of the work of architects Oomens and Van der Pas who represent Art Nouveau in Breda; integrity/recognisability: the object is of importance due to the architectural integrity of the exterior.
