Inleiding
GRAFKAPEL van de familie H. van Abbe. Gebouwd naar een ontwerp van A.J.
Kropholler in 1935 in de voor hem kenmerkende Traditionalistische stijl. De kapel ligt in het zuiden van Eindhoven, in een bosrijke omgeving.
Omschrijving
De kapel bestaat uit een vierkante bouwmassa onder tentdak, gedekt met leisteen, bekroond door een stenen kruis. Aan de achterzijde is een halfronde absis gebouwd. Aan de voorzijde bevindt zich een vierkant portaal, lager dan de hoofdmassa, onder zadeldak. In de topgevel hangt een klok.
Het geheel is uitgevoerd in baksteen, direkt onder de dakrand is een band in reliëf gemetseld. In het portaal geeft een rondboog toegang tot de kapel, daarboven is een natuurstenen gevelsteen aangebracht. In de zijgevel zijn dubbele bogen, van elkaar gescheiden door middel van een natuurstenen zuil aangebracht. Aan de voorzijde is een brede bakstenen trap aanwezig. De kapel zelf heeft smalle hoge ramen, gevuld met glas-in-lood. De kapel ligt van de weg af en wordt omringd door diverse struiken (onder andere rododendron) en eikenbomen. Aan de straatzijde is een smeedijzeren hek met poort geplaatst ter afscheiding van het terrein.
Waardering
De grafkapel is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens een uitzonderlijk voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het grafmonument. Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de stijl en opbouw en als voorbeeld van het werk van A.J. Kropholler. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en typologisch zeldzaam.

Description
The chapel consists of a square building mass under a tent roof, covered with slate, crowned by a stone cross. On the rear side a semi-circular apse has been built. On the front side there is a square portico, lower than the main mass, under a gabled roof. A bell hangs in the stepped gable.
The whole is executed in brick, directly under the roof edge a band in relief is laid in brick. In the portico a round arch provides access to the chapel, above it a natural stone plaque is placed. In the side facade double arches are placed, separated from each other by means of a natural stone column. On the front side there is a broad brick staircase. The chapel itself has narrow high windows, filled with stained glass. The chapel is set back from the road and is surrounded by various shrubs (among other things rhododendron) and oak trees. On the street side a wrought-iron fence with gate is placed to separate the site.
Valuation
The funerary chapel is of general interest. The building has cultural-historical value as a special expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic funeral culture, it is also an exceptional example of the typological development of the funeral monument. It is of architectural-historical importance because of its style and construction and as an example of the work of A.J. Kropholler. It has been preserved intact and is typologically rare.
