Inleiding

Description
Introduction
The Constant Rebeque BARRACKS, designed by the Engineer Corps, under the direction of J.Zwart in 1938. The complex is located in the north-west of Eindhoven and covers a rectangular site between the Oirschotsedijk and the railway line to Den Bosch.
The earliest building is concentrated on the Oirschotsedijk. A so-called "Boost barracks" was constructed there. The need for new barracks buildings increased when the Military Service Act was amended in 1938, to meet this need a standard type was designed by Captain of the Engineer Corps A.G. Boost. Characteristic of this type are the gatehouse and pavilions, grouped around a parade ground and executed in a business-like style. Later extensions were realised in the north and far west of the site in the 1940s. These extensions are not protected.
The complex is currently in use by Defence as a Driving and Traction School.
Description
Three ACCOMMODATION BUILDINGS, each pavilion consists of a two-storey building on a rectangular plan under a hipped roof. The whole is executed in brick, the roofs are provided with an overhang and covered with improved Dutch tiles. Against the gable wall is a wing placed under a lower roof. The gable facing the parade ground has projections in which the staircases are located.
Composite windows with metal frames have been installed in the facades.
The interior, with the exception of the hall and stairwells, has been modernised.
Valuation
The three accommodation buildings are of general importance. The whole has cultural-historical importance as an example of an administrative development, namely the establishment of barracks in or near large cities and as an example of the typological development of barracks. It is of architectural-historical importance because of the carefully detailed stylistic forms applied by the engineer corps offices shortly before the Second World War and because of the use of materials. The building is of importance because of its setting, connected with the development of the city. The object is important because of the integrity of its interior and exterior.
