KAPEL annex FOYER, gelegen op de hoek van twee wegen, achter het hoofdgebouw, gebouwd in 1918 in Neo-Renaissancestijl, vermoedelijk naar ontwerp van het bureau Rijksbouwmeesters.
Omschrijving
Bakstenen gebouw op T-vormige plattegrond onder een samengesteld wolfdak, gedekt met leien. Op de hoekpunten zijn zinken pirons geplaatst. Het kapelgedeelte heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond onder wolfdak met een achtkantige ruiter midden op het dak, voorzien van een zinken koepel met smeedijzeren bekroning en klok. De lange gevel beslaat drie traveeën, waarin tuitgevels voorzien van zadeldaken.
Hierin zijn grote ramen aangebracht, gevuld met glas-in-lood. Erboven zijn in het dakvlak kleine dakkapelletjes met een gebogen fronton aanwezig. Tegen de korte gevel is een nis met afgeschuinde zijden geplaatst.
Haaks daarop een eenlaags bouwmassa onder schilddak met dakkapellen en wolfseinde. Hierin bevindt zich een theaterzaal met foyer. Dit deel is aan de korte gevel en lange gevel aan het binnenterrein van eenlaagse uitbouwen voorzien. Rechthoekige ramen met roedenverdeling, in de hoek daarvan een deel met hoger opgetrokken bolle erker onder koepeldak.
Waardering
De kapel annex foyer is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een sociale en bestuurlijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van inrichtingen voor de zwakzinnigenzorg van rijkswege in of nabij de grote steden en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de gebouwen voor de zwakzinnigenzorg. Brick building on a T-shaped floor plan under a composite half-hipped roof, covered with slate. Zinc finials have been placed at the corner points.
