Inleiding
Meerlaags, FABRIEKSGEBOUW met FABRIEKSWATERTOREN gebouwd naar ontwerp van architect A. de Broekert van het Philips Ingenieursbureau. Het geheel kwam in twee bouwfasen in 1928 en 1929 tot stand in Functionalistische stijl.
Het object grenst direct aan het spoor, op de hoek van het terrein met de Beukenlaan.
Omschrijving
Zes laags pand onder een plat dak. Het pand bestaat uit twee op vierkante plattegrond gebouwde bouwmassa's. Aan de zuidzijde zijn uitstekende liftschachten annex trappenhuizen geplaatst, deze zijn iets hoger opgetrokken en steken boven de dakrand uit. Aan de noordzijde is een torenachtige bouwmassa van acht lagen met een opbouw aanwezig. In de opbouw bevindt zich een waterreservoir. Aan de spoorzijde is tussen de uitbouwen van liftschachten een éénlaagse bouwmassa onder plat dak aanwezig. Het geheel, zowel de constructie als de invulling, is uitgevoerd in beton. Overal zijn brede ramen, voorzien van metalen kozijnen met een kleine roedenverdeling geplaatst. De ramen vullen de gehele breedte van de traveeën.
Waardering
Het gebouw is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaaleconomische ontwikkeling van de nijverheid, in het bijzonder de stichting van de op nationaal niveau van belang zijnde Philipsfabrieken en als visualisatie van de typologische ontwikkeling van de grootschalige hoogbouw voor de industrie. Het heeft innovatieve waarde vanwege de grootschalige en technisch uitgewerkte toepassing van gewapend betonconstructies. Het is architectuurhistorisch van belang vanwege de uiterst sobere maar indrukwekkende vormgeving en als voorbeeld van de toegepaste combinatie van bouwelementen; het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van het werk van de architect A. de Broekert. Multi-storey FACTORY BUILDING with FACTORY WATER TOWER built according to designs by architect A. de Broekert of the Philips Engineering Office. The whole came into being in two construction phases in 1928 and 1929 in Functionalist style.

Description
Six-storey building under a flat roof. The building consists of two building masses constructed on a square floor plan. On the south side projecting lift shafts annex staircases have been placed, these are raised slightly higher and project above the roof edge. On the north side a tower-like building mass of eight storeys with a superstructure is present. The superstructure contains a water reservoir. On the railway side between the extensions of the lift shafts a single-storey building mass under a flat roof is present. The whole, both the structure and the infill, is executed in concrete. Everywhere broad windows are placed, fitted with metal frames with small glazing bars. The windows fill the entire width of the bays.
