Inleiding
VERBLIJFSGEBOUW behorend bij het kloostercomplex Loreto. Het gebouw staat thans leeg. Het gebouw dateert uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw. Het ontwerp wordt toegeschreven aan architect H.J. Hürth. De toegepaste bouwstijl is traditionalistisch.
Diverse aanbouwen aan de linkerzijgevel en achtergevel zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
Verblijfsgebouw op een veelhoekige plattegrond. Het gebouw telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met verspringende zadeldaken met kruispannen. Rechthoekige houten vensters en deuren, deels met segementboogvormige bovenlichten. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen. Metselwerk in kruisverband.
Middendeel VOORGEVEL symmetrisch ingedeeld. In het middengedeelte een hoog spitsboogvormig spaarveld met hierin in de eerste bouwlaag een rechthoekig venster van omstreeks 1970. Waarschijnlijk bevond zich in de hardstenen omlijsting oorspronkelijk een deur. Aan de bovenzijde van de hardstenen lijst een rond venstertje. Aan weerszijden van het spaarveld een dubbel venster met hardstenen dorpelsteen en tussenstijl. Spaarveld met hardstenen sluitsteen. In de tweede bouwlaag twee segmentboogvormige vensters met hardstenen dorpelstenen. Tussen de vensters een klein spitsboogvormig venstertje. Aan de ACHTERGEVEL in de eerste bouwlaag een aanbouw met lessenaarsdak. Deze is uitgesloten van bescherming.
Aan weerszijden van dit hoofdvolume een KLEINER BOUWVOLUME met lager zadeldak en teruggelegde rooilijn. Het volume aan de RECHTERZIJGEVEL van het hoofdvolume heeft in de voorgevel een grote segmentboogvormige toegang met aan weerszijden een smal spitsboogvormig venstertje. In de tweede bouwlaag in het linkervoorgeveldeel een klein rechthoekig venster. Een brede dakkapel van omstreeks 1970. Aan de achtergevel van dit bouwvolume in de eerste bouwlaag een aanbouw met plat dak met hierop een balkon. Deze aanbouw is uitgesloten van bescherming. In de tweede bouwlaag van deze achtergevel twee balkondeuren van omstreeks 1970. Aan de rechterzijgevel van dit laatste bouwvolume een uitbouw in twee bouwlagen met afgeschuinde hoeken. Segmentboogvormige en rechthoekige vensters. Bouwvolume aan de LINKERZIJGEVEL van het hoofdvolume met in de eerste bouwlaag voorgevel een rechthoekige houten deur met een hardstenen omlijsting met aan weerszijden een venster met hardstenen dorpelsteen. In de tweede bouwlaag voorgevel drie rechthoekige houten vensters. Aan de linkerzijgevel diverse aanbouwen die dateren van omstreeks 1970. Deze aanbouwen zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
INTERIEUR van de diverse bouwdelen aangepast en niet beschermenswaardig.
Waardering
Het verblijfsgebouw is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een typologische ontwikkeling van gebouwen binnen kloostercomplexen. Ensemblewaarde ontleent het gebouw aan de situering binnen het kloostercomplex Loreto en daarmee van belang voor het aanzien van Simpelveld. Het gebouw is tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de redelijke mate van architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de typologische zeldzaamheid.

RESIDENTIAL BUILDING belonging to the Loreto convent complex. The building is currently empty. The building dates from the last quarter of the 19th century. The design is attributed to architect H.J. Hürth. The architectural style applied is traditionalist.

Description
Residential building on a polygonal floor plan. The building has two storeys and is covered with offset gabled roofs with Spanish tiles. Rectangular wooden windows and doors, partly with segmental arch fanlights. The building material applied is brick. Brickwork in English bond.
Central section FRONT FACADE symmetrically arranged. In the central section a tall pointed-arch sparing field with, in the first storey, a rectangular window from circa 1970. A door probably originally occupied the hardstone frame. At the top of the hardstone moulding a small round window. On either side of the sparing field a double window with hardstone sill and central mullion. Sparing field with hardstone keystone. In the second storey two segmental-arch windows with hardstone sills. Between the windows a small pointed-arch window. On the REAR FACADE in the first storey an extension with lean-to roof. This is excluded from protection.
On either side of this main volume a SMALLER BUILDING VOLUME with lower gabled roof and set-back building line. The volume on the RIGHT SIDE FACADE of the main volume has in its front facade a large segmental-arch entrance with on either side a narrow pointed-arch window. In the second storey in the left front facade section a small rectangular window. A broad roof dormer from circa 1970. On the rear facade of this building volume in the first storey an extension with flat roof with a balcony on it. This extension is excluded from protection. In the second storey of this rear facade two balcony doors from circa 1970. On the right side facade of this latter building volume a projecting section in two storeys with chamfered corners. Segmental-arch and rectangular windows. Building volume on the LEFT SIDE FACADE of the main volume with in the first storey front facade a rectangular wooden door with a hardstone frame with on either side a window with hardstone sill. In the second storey front facade three rectangular wooden windows. On the left side facade various extensions dating from circa 1970. These extensions are excluded from protection.

Valuation
The residential building is of cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a typological development of buildings within convent complexes. The building derives ensemble value from its location within the Loreto convent complex and is thereby of importance for the appearance of Simpelveld. The building is finally of general importance due to the reasonable degree of architectural integrity of the exterior and the typological rarity.
