Inleiding
Voormalige dubbele MONTAGEHAL "Gebouw 290/336", onderdeel van het complex Hembrugterrein - Artillerie Inrichtingen Hembrug. Gebouw 290 vormt de smallere oostelijke hal en dateert uit de periode 1931-1936. Gebouw 336 dateert uit de periode 1936-1941 en vormt de westelijke vergroting van 290. Het object behoort tot de bebouwing uit de derde fase van de fabriek en bevindt zich op het westelijke terreindeel bestemd voor de machinefabriek. Deze fabriek vervaardigde machines voor civiele dienst. Het object is ingebed binnen het gebouwencluster 151-290-336-425, waarvan gebouw 151 uit de periode 1916-1921 dateert en inwendig een ruimte vormt met object 290/336, en gebouw 425 dateert uit de periode 1951-1956. Thans is het gebouw buiten gebruik.
Omschrijving
Dubbele montagehal, gebouwd in twee fasen volgens één constructie als tweebeuk op rechthoekige plattegrond onder twee flauwhellende zadeldaken met de nokken noord-zuid gericht. De oostelijke hal is iets smaller uitgevoerd dan de westelijke die enige jaren jonger is. Bij de aanleg van de oostelijke hal is de zijgevel van gebouw 151 verwijderd zodat er één open ruimte ontstond.
De gevels zijn opgetrokken in baksteen gemetseld in halfsteens verband met een doorgaande rollaag onder de benedenvensters. De dubbele hal is toegankelijk via dubbele schuifdeuren in de kopgevels. In de vier gevels zijn bijna vierkante stalen vensters aangebracht met kleine roedenverdeling. De ramen zijn uitneembaar. De oostelijke langsgevel bevat een lichtbeuk boven het vlakke dak van belendend gebouw 151. Op beide nokken bevindt zich over de gehele lengte een ijzeren noklantaarn met hellende glasvlakken.
De inwendige staalconstructie levert een relatief grote overspanning en een groot vrij vloeroppervlak. Het betreft een staalskelet van vier traveeën, bestaande uit gelaste open (vakwerk)kolommen die naar onder toe versmallen en in de lengte gekoppeld zijn door dubbele vakwerkliggers. De liggers zijn uitgevoerd als V-liggers met verticale staven ter versteviging. Daarop staan over de hoogte van de lichtbeuk stijlen met een langsverband van schoorstaven die de vakwerkspanten dragen. De spanten zijn driehoekige V-spanten, Op de spanten zijn gordingen en een dakbedekking van betonelementen aangebracht. Op de spanten is in de nok de noklantaarn aangebracht voorzien van een windverband.
Waardering
De voormalige montagehal "Gebouw 290/336" is van algemeen belang wegens cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een fabrieksgebouw uit het tweede kwart van de twintigste eeuw, en wegens constructieve waarde vanwege de bijzondere staalconstructie. Former double ASSEMBLY HALL "Building 290/336", part of the Hembrugterrein complex - Artillery Establishments Hembrug. Building 290 forms the narrower eastern hall and dates from the period 1931-1936. Building 336 dates from the period 1936-1941 and forms the western extension of 290. The object belongs to the buildings from the third phase of the factory and is located on the western part of the site intended for the machine factory. This factory manufactured machines for civil purposes. The object is embedded within the building cluster 151-290-336-425, of which building 151 dates from the period 1916-1921 and internally forms a space with object 290/336, and building 425 dates from the period 1951-1956. Currently the building is out of use.
Description
Double assembly hall, built in two phases according to one construction as a two-aisle space on a rectangular ground plan under two shallow-pitched gabled roofs with the ridges running north-south. The eastern hall is slightly narrower than the western one which is a few years younger. When the eastern hall was constructed, the side facade of building 151 was removed so that one open space was created.
The facades are built in brick laid in half-brick bond with a continuous plinth course below the ground-floor windows. The double hall is accessed via double sliding doors in the gable-end facades. In the four facades almost square steel windows have been installed with small glazing bars. The windows are removable. The eastern long facade contains a light aisle above the flat roof of the adjoining building 151. On both ridges is located over the entire length an iron ridge lantern with sloping glass panels.
The internal steel structure provides relatively large span and generous unobstructed floor area. It is a steel skeleton of four bays, consisting of welded open (lattice) columns that narrow towards the base and are coupled along the length by double lattice beams. The beams are executed as V-beams with vertical bracing rods. On these stand over the height of the light aisle posts with a longitudinal bracing of struts that support the lattice trusses. The trusses are triangular V-trusses. On the trusses are purlins and a roof covering of concrete elements placed. On the trusses the ridge lantern is placed at the ridge equipped with wind bracing.
Valuation
The former assembly hall "Building 290/336" is of general importance due to cultural and architectural-historical value as an example of a factory building from the second quarter of the twentieth century, and due to constructive value because of the exceptional steel structure. The object is also important as a historical-functional component of the Hembrugterrein complex, built in the third phase of the factory.
