Inleiding
In 1910 wordt de ambachtsschool voor Gouda en Omstreken opgericht. Begin jaren dertig ontwerpt de Haagse architect Jos Duijnstee een nieuwe behuizing voor de school met bijbehorende CONCIëRGEWONING in de stijl van de Nieuwe Zakelijkheid. In 1932 verhuist de school naar de Graaf Florisweg 64.
Omschrijving
De conciërgewoning is opgetrokken vanuit een samengestelde plattegrond en bestaat uit één bouwlaag onder een met rode, verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekt samengestelde schildkap met overstek. Zowel aan de voorzijde als aan de achterzijde als aan de rechterzijde worden de schilden doorsneden door een dakkapel met houten overstek en drie ramen. Aan de achterzijde is een uitbouw met een plat dak gerealiseerd. Het platte dak fungeert als balkon en heeft een houten balustrade. Tegen de achtergevel (ter hoogte van de uitbouw) is een deels zelfstandige, gepleisterde schoorsteen gemetseld. De woning komt in detaillering en materiaalgebruik grotendeels overeen met het schoolgebouw. De bakstenen gevels zijn in Noors verband opgemetseld. De achtergevel is gedeeltelijk gepleisterd, de rechterzijgevel geheel. De rechtgesloten vensters worden afgesloten met betonnen waterlijsten en bevatten samengestelde kozijnen. Daarin zijn vaste - en draairamen geplaatst.
De voorgevel bevat een langgerekt kozijn met gekoppelde, staande ramen.
De linkerzijgevel heeft een risalerend hoekpaviljoen met een venster (voorzien van een samengesteld kozijn) net onder het dakoverstek. De rechter travee bevat de entree en drie gekoppelde staande ramen onder een gemeenschappelijke betonnen lijst. De rechterzijgevel is grotendeels blind. De asymmetrische achtergevel bevat onder meer een entree en openslaande dubbele tuindeuren. Ter hoogte van het balkon is de gevel doorgetrokken tot aan de dakkapel. Hierin is een openslaande deur naar het balkon geplaatst.

Description
The caretaker's dwelling is built on a composite floor plan and consists of one storey under a composite hipped roof covered with red, improved Dutch tiles with overhang. The hips on both the front and rear and on the right side are intersected by a dormer window with wooden overhang and three windows. On the rear side an extension with a flat roof has been realized. The flat roof serves as a balcony and has a wooden balustrade. Against the rear facade (at the height of the extension) a partially self-contained, plastered chimney has been built. The dwelling largely corresponds to the school building in detailing and use of materials. The brick facades are laid in Flemish bond.
