Inleiding
Een GEDENKTEKEN uit omstreeks 1898, in de vorm van een boombescherming in een Eclectische aan de Hollandse Neo-Renaissance bouwtrant verwante stijl, is geplaatst rondom in een dat jaar geplante lindeboom. De boom, welke ook 'Wilhelmina'- of gedenkboom wordt genoemd, is geplant ter ere van de troonsbestijging van koningin Wilhlemina in 1898.
Het gedenkteken staat aan de westzijde van het park, nabij een wandelpad in de richting van een brug naar de Spieringstraat. Rondom de boombescherming bevindt zicht een achtzijdige klinkerbestrating.
Omschrijving
Achtzijdig gesloten hekwerk van giet- en smeedijzer bestaat op de hoeken uit gietijzeren, met pijnappelmotief bekroonde pijlers en daartussen uit van pijlpunten voorziene spijlen. Het hekwerk is tussen de spijlen verlevendigd met decoratief gebogen en gekrulde ornamenten. Aan twee zijden bevinden zich eenvoudig rechthoekige cartouches, waarin uitgezaagd de datum: '1898' en 6 Sept.'

Introduction
A MEMORIAL from around 1898, in the form of a tree guard in an Eclectic style related to the Dutch Neo-Renaissance building tradition, is placed around a linden tree planted in that year. Octagonal closed railing of cast and wrought iron consists at the corners of cast-iron pillars crowned with a pine cone motif and between them of spikes with pointed spears.
