Inleiding
Voormalig PENSIONGEBOUW, gebouwd in 1898 tegen duinhelling met de langsgevel (w) evenwijdig aan de straat. Het gebouw is thans (1994) opgesplitst in vier woningen. De woning rechts van de middenas heeft in de voorgevel de veranda van een moderne gemetselde uitbreiding voorzien, die van ondergeschikt belang wordt geacht.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan gebouwd voormalig tweelaags pensiongebouw onder plat dak. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in rode baksteen. De beide zijmuren en de achterzijde zijn grotendeels gepleisterd.
De voorgevel, met in het midden een verspringing van de helften, wordt gekenmerkt door een, de gehele gevel beslaande veranda. Het naar voren springende linkerdeel telt vier assen op ongelijke afstand van elkaar geplaatst. Het terugliggende rechtersegment telt eveneens vier vensterassen merendeels op gelijke afstand van elkaar. De vensterassen bevatten overwegend vierruits stolpdeuren met bovenlicht. Begane gronds bevinden zich twee oorspronkelijke paneeldeuren met bovenlicht. De veranda wordt afgesloten door een plat dak en is onder meer voorzien van gesneden schragen en een gesneden balustrade. In beide bouwlagen komen gesneden gootlijsten voor.
De rechterzijde (N) is merendeels blind, de linkerzijde (Z) heeft een aangebouwd éénlaags volume en de achterzijde bevat nog een aantal oorspronkelijke schuifvensters.
Waardering
Het voormalige pensiongebouw met veranda is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als redelijk gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een laat 19de-eeuws pension. Van cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling welke is verbonden met de geschiedenis van het toerisme rond 1900.

Built on a rectangular ground plan, former two-storey pension building under a flat roof. The facades are constructed in red brick. Both side walls and the rear are largely plastered.
The front facade, with an offset of the halves in the middle, is characterized by a veranda spanning the entire facade. The projecting left section has four axes placed at unequal distances from one another. The recessed right segment likewise has four window axes mostly at equal distances from one another. The window axes contain predominantly four-pane tilt doors with fanlights. On the ground floor there are two original panelled doors with fanlights. The veranda is closed off by a flat roof and is provided with, amongst other things, carved brackets and a carved balustrade. In both storeys there are carved gutter mouldings.
The right side (N) is mostly blind, the left side (S) has an attached single-storey volume and the rear contains a number of original sash windows.
Valuation
The former pension building with veranda is of general importance because of its architectural-historical value as a reasonably well-preserved example of a late 19th-century pension. Of cultural-historical importance as an expression of a socio-economic development connected with the history of tourism around 1900.
