Inleiding.
Het bronzen beeld werd in 1930 gegoten door J.H. Groot, van een kopergieterij uit Tilburg naar een ontwerp van Albertus Verschuren (Oosterhout).
Omschrijving.
De staande Christus is gekleed in een plooiend gewaad. Zijn handen zijn samengebracht voor zijn borst. In de handen een stuk brood dat gebroken wordt. Daarboven is op het gewaad zijn hart afgebeeld. Het beeld staat op een hoge bakstenen sokkel die aan de bovenzijde trapsgewijs verspringt.
Waardering.
Het beeld is onderdeel van een complex van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme, in het bijzonder de H. Hartdevotie. Het heeft kunsthistorische waarde als vertegenwoordiger van het werk van A. Verschuren. Het heeft ensemblewaarde wegens de situering aan de vaart, verbonden met de ontwikkeling van de streek. Het complex is van belang wegens de gaafheid van het geheel.

It has art-historical value as a representative of the work of A. Verschuren. It has ensemble value because of its location on the canal, linked with the development of the region. The complex is of importance because of the integrity of the whole.
