Inleiding.
De voormalige DIENSTWONING voor een boswachter is gebouwd in Rationalistische Neo-Gotische vormen in 1893.
Omschrijving.
Eenlaags woonhuis, opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen onder zadeldak met hoekschoorstenen, lijstgoten en overstek, gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen.
Voorgevel van vijf traveeën met speklagen in grijze baksteen. Plint met afgeschuinde rollaag in profielsteen. Zesruits schuiframen met onderluiken, onder licht getoogde hanekam en met geprofileerde onderdorpel. Opgeklampte voordeur met siersmeedwerk onder gedeeld bovenlicht. Siermetselwerk in de segmentbogen van de muuropeningen. De linkerzijde van het huis heeft vier, twee aan twee gekoppelde kelderlichten onder segmentboogjes.
De linkerzijgevel heeft een uitgemetseld schoorsteenkanaal en een zes- en vierruits raam op de begane grond. Op de verdieping ongedeelde lichten. De rechter zijgevel heeft een zesruits raam en twee tweedelige ramen op de verdieping. Aan de achterzijde een later ingebroken zesruits raam en een haakse aanbouw en een lager aangebouwd schuurtje van gerabatte delen op bakstenen plint. Zesruits raam en deur met tweedelig bovenlicht. In het voormalig schuurtje een vierdelige raamstrook met loopdeur. De hoofdindeling van het huis is herkenbaar bewaard gebleven.
Waardering.
De boswachterswoning is van algemeen belang. Het huis heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de zorg voor de huisvesting van dienstpersoneel en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de dienstwoning. Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de voor een dergelijk pand betrekkelijk zeldzame neogotische en rationalistische stijl. Single-storey dwelling, constructed from machine-made brick under a gabled roof with corner chimneys, cornice gutters and overhang, covered with improved Dutch pantiles.
Front elevation of five bays with banding in grey brick. Plinth with bevelled roll moulding in dressed stone. Six-pane sash windows with lower shutters, beneath lightly arched brick bonds and with profiled sub-sill. Clamped front door with ornamental ironwork beneath divided fanlight. Decorative brickwork in the segmental arches of the wall openings. The left side of the house has four paired cellar lights beneath small segmental arches.
The left elevation has a projecting chimney shaft and a six- and four-pane window on the ground floor. On the upper storey undivided lights. The right elevation has a six-pane window and two two-part windows on the upper storey. On the rear elevation a later inserted six-pane window and a right-angled extension and a lower attached small shed of roughly finished pieces on a brick plinth. Six-pane window and door with two-part fanlight. In the former shed a four-part window strip with pass-door. The principal internal layout of the house has been recognizably preserved.
Valuation.
The forest ranger's cottage is of general importance. The house has cultural-historical significance as a particular expression of concern for the housing of service personnel and as an example of the typological development of the service cottage.
