Inleiding.
Het WINKEL-WOONHUIS werd in Eclectische stijl gebouwd rond 1880-1890 en vormt een onderdeel van de in diezelfde tijd tot stand gekomen gevelwand aan een uitvalsweg van de binnenstad.
Omschrijving.
Het tweelaagse pand telt vier traveeën en is opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen. Op het zadeldak met de nok parallel aan de straat liggen rode opnieuw verbeterde hollandse dakpannen. De lijstgevel van dit pand is hoger dan die van de aangrenzende panden. In het midden van de hardstenen plint bevinden zich twee getoogde kelderramen. Daar boven bevinden zich twee getoogde etalageramen met doorlopende vensterdorpel. Rechts en links een paneeldeur met sieromlijsting en fronton op voluutconsoles. De linkerdeur, in segmentboogportiek, is te bereiken via een hardstenen trapje. De vier getoogde T-vensters van de bovenwoning hebben een gepleisterde sieromlijsting met kuiven. Ook onder de geschilderde vensterdorpels bevinden zich raambefjes. Het deels gepleisterde fries onder de geprofileerde kroonlijst bezit op elke hoek twee voluutconsoles.
Waardering.
Het pand is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, met name als onderdeel van de stadsuitleg van de late negentiende eeuw. The two-storey building comprises four bays and is constructed of machine-made brick. On the gabled roof with the ridge parallel to the street are red newly repaired Dutch roof tiles. The cornice-topped facade of this building is higher than those of the adjacent buildings. In the middle of the ashlar plinth are two arched cellar windows. Above these are two arched display windows with continuous window sill. To the right and left a panelled door with ornamental moulding and pediment on scroll consoles. The left door, in segmental arch portico, is accessed via an ashlar step. The four arched T-windows of the upper dwelling have plastered ornamental moulding with hood mouldings. Window aprons are also present below the painted window sills. The partly plastered frieze under the profiled cornice has on each corner two scroll consoles.
