Inleiding.
Eclectische GRAFTOMBE uit de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw, bestemd tot familiegraf van L.C. de Geep.
Omschrijving.
De hardstenen graftombe wordt omgeven door een gietijzeren hekwerk met balusters van 1.20 meter hoog. Het geheel is totaal 2.08 meter breed en 2.92 meter lang. Op de schuin oplopende geprofileerde dekplaat bevindt zich de tekst: "familiegraf L.C. de Geep lid der staten van N. Brabant R.I.P." In hoogreliëf bevinden zich hierboven drie wapenschilden. Een daarvan is voorzien van een helm en een helmteken met een boom en vlucht, een andere heeft een helm en helmteken met steigerend paard, tenslotte is er een wapen met een kroon aan de bovenzijde. Onder dit laatste wapen een banderolle waarin: "candide et condate". De zijde van de tombe is gesigneerd door Van Dijck Petit B.O.Z. Het omringende hekwerk is voorzien van zes gecanneleerde hoofdbalusters met vazen, waartussen balusters met gekrulde punten van afwisselende hoogte.
Waardering.
Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de hervormde grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het grafmonument. Het heeft kunsthistorisch belang als voorbeeld van het werk van het atelier Van Dijck Petit. Description.
The stone grave monument is surrounded by a cast-iron fence with balusters 1.20 metres high. The whole is a total of 2.08 metres wide and 2.92 metres long. On the sloping profiled cover plate is the text: "family grave L.C. de Geep member of the states of N. Brabant R.I.P." In high relief above this are three coats of arms. One of them is provided with a helmet and a crest with a tree and flight, another has a helmet and crest with a rearing horse, finally there is a coat of arms with a crown at the top. Below this last coat of arms a scroll bearing: "candide et condate". The side of the monument is signed by Van Dijck Petit B.O.Z. The surrounding fence is provided with six fluted main balusters with vases, between which are balusters with curled points of alternating height.
Valuation.
The grave monument is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of the Reformed grave culture, it is also of significance for the typological development of the grave monument. It has art-historical value as an example of the work of the Van Dijck Petit studio.
