Inleiding
Betonnen VIADUCT uit 1928 naar ontwerp van J.P. van Muijlwijk (directeur Gemeentewerken Arnhem) en uitgevoerd door de firma NV Werninks's Betonfabriek uit Leiden. Het viaduct (d.i. de Apeldoornseweg) voert scheef over de eronder gelegen Cattepoelseweg. De Cattepoelseweg is aangelegd in een door zandafgravingen ontstaan ravijn. Even ten noordoosten van dit viaduct bevindt zich bij de Schelmseweg een soortgelijk betonnen viaduct.
Omschrijving
Betonnen VIADUCT waarvan de hoofddraagconstructie bestaat uit een horizontaal rijdek dat via een aanvulling steunt op een boog. De aanvulling is aan de zijkanten van de brug opgesloten tussen betonnen langswanden.
De boog bestaat uit vijf ribben met holle betonnen vakken, heeft een doorrijhoogte van 11,5 meter, overspant 29 meter en is ingeklemd tussen massieve landhoofden.
De landhoofden worden bekroond door vier betonnen kijkhuisjes voor wandelaars. De huisjes zijn aan alle zijden geopend, hebben een rechthoekig grondplan en worden overspannen door een betonnen tongewelf met uitkragende bloktandlijst waarin glazen stenen. In de huisjes zijn aan de korte zijden betonnen bankjes aangebracht. Het rijdek is aan weerszijden afgezet met een gesloten betonnen balustrade.

Description
Concrete VIADUCT whose main load-bearing structure consists of a horizontal roadway that is supported via an infill on an arch. The infill is enclosed on the sides of the bridge between concrete side walls.
The arch consists of five ribs with hollow concrete spans, has a clear height of 11.5 metres, spans 29 metres and is fixed between massive abutments.
The abutments are crowned by four concrete pavilions for pedestrians. The pavilions are open on all sides, have a rectangular ground plan and are spanned by a concrete barrel vault with projecting block-tooth moulding in which glass bricks are set. In the pavilions concrete benches are installed on the short sides. The roadway is bordered on either side with a closed concrete balustrade.
