Inleiding
Op de hoek van de Kennemerstraatweg en de Ypesteinerlaan gelegen voormalige DOKTERSWONING met HEKWERK, gebouwd in 1931 door aannemer P. Bot als onderdeel van het complex 'Sint Willibrordus' in opdracht van de Sint Willibrordusstichting. De traditionalistische architectuur van dit door Thunissen en Hendricks ontworpen woonhuis sluit aan bij de naastgelegen directeurswoning en de eerste paviljoens. Het pand maakt sinds 1984 deel uit van de poly-dagkliniek en is inwendig verbouwd. De meeste ramen zijn vernieuwd met behoud van de oorspronkelijke kozijnen en raamindeling. De tuin rond het hoekpand wordt van de openbare weg gescheiden door een vermoedelijk uit de bouwtijd daterend hek dat zich voortzet tot voorbij de aangrenzende voormalige directeurswoning. N.B. De in 1984 gerealiseerde nieuwbouw tegen de achtergevel valt buiten de de bescherming.
Beschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan gebouwd woonhuis van twee bouwlagen onder een schilddak met ruim overstek waarvan de noklijn evenwijdig loopt aan de Kennemerstraatweg. Rechts tegen de rechterzijgevel (Z) bevindt een rechthoekige erker met afgeschuinde hoeken waarboven een balkon. Het buitenmuurwerk is beneden de vensters van de begane grond opgetrokken in rode genuanceerde machinale baksteen waalformaat in kettingverband met platvolle voeg, en daarboven in gele genuanceerde waalsteen met knipvoeg (ook kettingverband). Alle vensters hebben zware gesmoorde lekdorpeltegels en, op de begane grond uitkragende, betonnen lateien. Langs het met gesmoorde verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekte dak loopt een zinken mastgoot. Midden op de nok staat een schoorsteen van rode genuanceerde waalsteen. Alle vier dakvlakken hebben een dakkapel met overstekend plat dak en drie (voor- en achterschild) of twee (zijschilden) gekoppelde ramen. In het midden van de voorgevel (W) is ter hoogte van het achterliggende trappenhuis een langwerpig venster aangebracht dat zich uitstrekt over beide bouwlagen en wordt afgesloten door een uitkragende betonnen latei bekroond door een dito halve sierbol. Rechts hiervan zit een keldervenster, links de vertikaal beschoten eikenhouten voordeur waarin drie paar boven elkaar geplaatste raampjes. De voordeur heeft een gemetselde stoep. Boven de deur is een luifel aangebracht rustend op twee houten stijlen die geplaatst zijn op uit de gevel gemetselde sokkels. Rechts op de begane grond zit verder een groot liggend venster en links een klein staand venster. De eerste verdieping kent een symmetrische vensterverdeling met links en rechts een tweetal samengestelde vensters bestaande uit een breed vast raam en een smal draairaam. De aan de Ypesteinerlaan gelegen rechterzijgevel (Z) heeft linksonder een draairaam en linksboven een tweedelig venster als in de voorgevel. De erker rechts telt vijf gekoppelde vensters met bovenlichten voorzien van glas-in-lood (pastelkleuren omrand door felle kleuren). In het midden van de borstwering erboven is een terracotta reliëf van een uil ingemetseld. Het balkon is bereikbaar via een dubbele eikenhouten balkondeur voorzien van glaspanelen. De linkerzijgevel (N) heeft in het midden van de begane grond een smalle muuropening waarachter een (vernieuwd) raampje, en links en rechts een staand venster (links zat oorspronkelijk een deur). Linksboven is een tweedelig venster aangebracht als in de voorgevel.
In de achtergevel (O) zit links naast de nieuwe aanbouw een dubbele eikenhouten tuindeur voorzien van glaspanelen en een gedeeld bovenlicht waarin glas-in-lood (als bij de erker). De eerste verdieping telt drie tweedelige vensters als in de voorgevel.
Van het oorspronkelijke interieur resteert de (beklede) bordestrap met getrapt gesneden balusters en dichte leuning. Het tuinhek is samengesteld uit gemetselde pijlers met een betonnen dekplaat en lage muurdelen met een ezelsrug waarboven twee horizontale stalen buizen.
Waardering
De voormalige dokterswoning met hekwerk is van algemeen belang wegens cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het complex 'Sint Willibrordus'. To the right of the right side façade (S) is a rectangular bay window with chamfered corners, above which a balcony. The external brickwork below the windows of the ground floor is built in red nuanced machine-made brick in waal format in chain bond with full mortar joint, and above in yellow nuanced waal brick with tuck joint (also chain bond). All windows have heavy weathered drip tiles and, on the ground floor projecting, concrete lintels. Along the roof, clad with weathered improved Dutch tiles, runs a zinc gutter. In the centre of the ridge stands a chimney of red nuanced waal brick. All four roof faces have a roof dormer with projecting flat roof and three (front and rear slope) or two (side slopes) paired windows. In the middle of the front façade (W) at the height of the stairwell behind is a long window that extends over both storeys and is closed off by a projecting concrete lintel crowned by a matching half decorative sphere. To the right is a basement window, to the left the vertically boarded oak entrance door with three pairs of small windows placed one above the other. The entrance door has a masonry step. Above the door is a canopy resting on two wooden posts that are placed on socles built from the façade.
