Beschrijving
Het VOORTERREIN bestaat uit een symmetrische TUINAANLEG en een TOEGANGSHEK als onderdeel van het complex 'Sint Willibrordus'. De tuinaanleg voor het hoofdgebouw wordt van de Kennemerstraatweg gescheiden door een sloot die in het midden wordt onderbroken door een brede dam waarop ter weerszijden van de toegang twee monumentale pijlers staan. Deze zijn boven een hardstenen plint gemetseld in lichtrode handvormsteen waalformaat met blokken tufsteen op de inspringende hoeken en bovenop een kroonlijst van kalksteen bekroond door een achtzijdige koperen lantaarn. In de voorzijde van beide pijlers is bovenin een zandstenen reliëf ingemetseld met een wapenschild omgeven door symbolen. De linker heeft betrekking op Willibrordus, de rechter op de congregatie van de broeders van O.L.V. van Lourdes. De dam heeft kwartrond gemetselde zijmuren van geel genuanceerde baksteen in koppenverband die overgaan in rechte muurdelen voorzien van een lage borstwering die uitloopt op de pijler. Voorbij de ingangspartij splitst de toegangsweg zich in twee divergerende wegen die via de twee poorten tussen het middendeel van het hoofdgebouw en beide zijvleugels leiden naar het achterterrein. The FRONT GROUNDS consist of a symmetrical GARDEN LAYOUT and an ACCESS GATE as part of the 'Sint Willibrordus' complex. The garden layout in front of the main building is separated from the Kennemerstraatweg by a ditch which is interrupted in the middle by a broad embankment on which, on either side of the entrance, two monumental pylons stand. These are mortared above a hardstone plinth in light red handmoulded Flemish bricks with tufa blocks on the recessed corners and topped above with a limestone cornice crowned by an octagonal copper lantern. In the front of both pylons a sandstone relief is mortared in the upper part with a coat of arms surrounded by symbols. The left one relates to Willibrordus, the right one to the congregation of the brothers of O.L.V. of Lourdes. The embankment has quarter-round mortared side walls of yellow nuanced bricks in Flemish bond that transition to straight wall sections fitted with a low parapet that runs out onto the pylon. Beyond the entrance arrangement, the access road divides into two diverging roads that lead via the two gates between the centre section of the main building and both side wings to the rear grounds. The front grounds features a monumental garden layout corresponding to the tripartite front architecture with on either side of the two access roads three large trapezium-shaped ponds: a broad pond in front of the centre section of the main building and on either side, in front of both side wings, a smaller one of which the east edge runs parallel to the side wing.
