Inleiding:
HUIS uit 1868 in Eclectische stijl, gebouwd voor textielfabrikant J.M. Eijcken. Het huis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond. De voor- of westgevel staat aan de Hofstraat. Nu in gebruik als onderdeel van het gemeentehuis van Geldrop.
Omschrijving:
De architectuur van het huis is symmetrisch van opzet, het bevat twee bouwlagen met een met leien gedekt schilddak voorzien van plat dak. De gevels bevatten een middenrisaliet, hoekpilasters, gekorniste kroonlijsten, fries met consoles, cordonlijst en basement, alles met een rijke stucdecoratie. Rond de muuropeningen geprofileerde lijsten met afgeronde bovenhoeken en kuifbekroning. De zes naast elkaar gelegen zesruits ramen in de bovenpui van de voorgevel zijn twee aan twee gekoppeld. Hierdoor ontstaat het effect van slechts drie traveeën. In het bovenlicht van de dubbele voordeur een gietijzeren sierraam. Voor de deur een hardstenen stoep.
In het interieur zijn nog diverse authentieke onderdelen aanwezig zoals: stucplafonds, de geaderd wit marmeren gang en hal met daarin de dubbele trap met twee bordessen en gietijzeren balusters en kolommen. De vloer van de bovenhal is door middel van voetafdrukken in gele en bruine oker geschilderd.

Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van representatieve fabrikantenwoningen in het bestaande dorpsbeeld; het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van typologische ontwikkeling van de villa.
