inleiding:
HUIS uit 1869 in Eclectische stijl met DIENSTWONING uit midden van de negentiende eeuw. Het huis ligt aan drie zijden vrij op het perceel. De voor- of westgevel ligt aan de Heuvel. De zuidgevel staat op de perceelsscheiding, ze grenst aan Heuvel 6. Terugspringend ten opzichte van de voorgevel ligt aan de noordkant van het huis een kleine dienstwoning.

De hoofdbouw is een symmetrisch tweelaags, blokvormig huis, vijf traveeën breed, onder afgeplat schilddak gedekt met leien. De gepleisterde voor- en achtergevel zijn voorzien van een rijke stucdecoratie. Rond de muuropeningen, die afgeronde bovenhoeken hebben, geprofileerde lijsten met een kuifbekroning. De voorgevel heeft gebosseerde hoekpilasters met een risalerende monumentale ingangspartij, waarboven een balkon met in het dak een rondboogvenster. Verder een cordonlijst en een hardstenen basement. De gevels hebben een kroonlijst met fries en mezzaninovensters. De dakkapel in de voorgevel wordt geflankeerd door een segmentboogvormige oplopende kroonlijst.
De dubbele voordeur bevat gietijzeren roosters. Het balkon heeft een gietijzeren balustrade. De ramen zijn voorzien van T-vensters. In de bovenlichten zit gekleurd glas-in-lood.
Het huis heeft op de begane grond een middengang, met aan weerszijden kamers. Dubbele paneeldeuren geven toegang tot de aan de straat gelegen voorkamers. De vensters hebben aan de binnenkant meerpanelige houten harmonica-luiken.
De gang heeft orginele stucplafonds met geprofileerde lijsten en een zwartmarmeren tegelvloer, afgewisseld met kleine wit marmeren vierkanten op de hoeken. Op de verdieping een grote centrale hal, van waaruit de verschillende kamers zijn te bereiken. Bijzonder hier is dat de bouwmuren van deze hal verspringen ten opzichte van de onderliggende gangmuren en niet balkdragend zijn maar bestaan uit lichte bouwmaterialen.
Op de open zolder eiken spanten. Voor het huis een frontale hardstenen stoep met een nieuw ijzeren hekwerk voorzien van pijlpunten.
De bijbouw uitgevoerd in baksteen heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, ze bestaat uit een bouwlaag onder zadeldak gedekt met grijze oud-hollandse pannen. De zesruits vensters zijn voorzien van luiken.
