Inleiding
Het betonnen URINOIR staat tegenover de kerk aan de dorpskade en loost op de Wargaastervaart. De vormgeving van het urinoir is afgeleid van de gietijzeren voorbeelden die wegens de vorm van plattegrond ook 'krul' werden genoemd. De oprichting van deze geprefabriceerde openbare toiletgelegenheid is gedateerd in het eerste kwart van de 20ste eeuw en gebeurde waarschijnlijk op initiatief van de kerkvoogdij omdat een mogelijk 17de-eeuwse grafsteen is hergebruikt. Het urinoir ligt binnen het beschermd dorpsgezicht.
Omschrijving
Het enkelvoudige urinoir is een open bouwwerk dat in de plattegrond lijkt op een naar binnen knikkende c, met een vaste betonvloer waarin een vloergoot met een afvoerpijp. Het beton heeft aan de buitenzijde een grove structuur en is aan de binnenzijde glad afgewerkt; het urinoirgedeelte is gezwart. De buitenzijde heeft een plint met op de hoeken liseenachtige verdikkingen. Aan de bovenzijde van elk wandvlak is een lichtopening waarin een metalen vlechtwerk. In de opening, als een soort loper, ligt een hardstenen zerk (200 x 69 cm) met onleesbaar geworden randschrift en op het middenvlak een ovalen medaillon met een onherkenbaar heraldisch wapen.
Waardering
Het betonnen urinoir is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:
- als een bijzondere uitdrukking van een hygiënische ontwikkeling, namelijk het creëren van een openbare toiletgelegenheid, in het bijzonder voor de schippers,
- vanwege de typologische verwantschap met de gietijzeren krul, uitgevoerd in beton,
- als karakteristiek voorbeeld van een betonnen urinoir,

Introduction
The concrete URINAL stands opposite the church at the village quay and drains into the Wargaastervaart. The design of the urinal is derived from cast-iron examples which, owing to the shape of the floor plan, were also called 'curl'. The erection of this prefabricated public toilet facility is dated to the first quarter of the 20th century and probably took place on the initiative of the church wardens because a possible 17th-century gravestone was reused. The urinal lies within the protected village townscape.
Description
The simple urinal is an open structure that in floor plan resembles an inward-curving c, with a fixed concrete floor in which a floor channel with a drainage pipe. The concrete has a coarse texture on the outside and is smoothly finished on the inside; the urinal section is blackened. The outside has a plinth with at the corners listel-like thickenings. At the top of each wall surface is a light opening with metal latticework. In the opening, like a kind of runner, lies a hard-stone grave slab (200 x 69 cm) with become-illegible edge inscription and on the central panel an oval medallion with an unrecognizable heraldic coat of arms.
