Inleiding complexonderdeel 1
WOONHUIS behorende bij Nieuw Werklust Kleiwarenfabriek gebouwd in de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw in Eclectische stijl als directeurswoning. Bij de directeurswoning behoorde een koetshuis, thans garage, en een houten botenhuis.
Omschrijving
Op een grofweg vierkante plattegrond opgetrokken woonhuis bestaande uit één bouwlaag met hardstenen plint en verder van rode baksteen in staand verband onder een met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak eindigend in een uitkragende gootlijst. De gevels worden afgesloten door een gepleisterde geprofileerde gecorniste daklijst en gepleisterde hoeklisenen. Drie gevels worden gedomineerd door centraal geplaatste gepleisterde risalieten onder steekkappen. De zesruits getoogde vensters zijn langs de bovenzijde gedecoreerd met gepleisterde profiellijsten.
De voorgevel (oost) heeft een centraal geplaatste risalerende entreepartij die bestaat uit een getoogde paneeldeur onder een bovenlicht binnen een profiellijst. Boven de entree is een balkon met balusters op korbelen geplaatst. De zolderverdieping heeft een tuitgevel met een geprofileerde deels hardstenen daklijst door onder een steekkap. In de gevel bevindt zich een dubbele balkondeur onder een getoogd bovenlicht waarboven een uitgewerkte decoratieve lijst is aangebracht. Langs de noordgevel is een serre op een bakstenen plint aangebouwd die aan de oostzijde afgesloten wordt door een driezijdige erker met eenvoudige vensters onder bovenlichten. De serre heeft een schilddak met leien in Maasdekking en neemt de hele gevel links van de risaliet in beslag. Een geprofileerde lijst volgt de contouren van de risaliet voor de noordgevel waarin op de begane grond een venster binnen een profiellijst geplaatst is. Op de verdieping bevinden zich twee geschakelde keperboogvormige vensters boven een waterdorpel op consoles. links van de risaliet is een venster geplaatst. De risalieten van de zuid- en de noordgevel hebben een overeenkomstige vormgeving met het verschil dat op de verdieping van de zuidelijke risaliet een dubbel getoogd venster geplaatst is.
De achtergevel aan de westzijde heeft een aanbouw onder een lessenaardak met een entree, een tweede entree onder een bovenlicht en een venster.

RESIDENCE belonging to Nieuw Werklust Clay Goods Factory built in the second half of the 19th century in Eclectic style as a director's residence. The director's residence was accompanied by a coach house, now a garage, and a wooden boat house.
Description
On a roughly square plan a residence consisting of one storey with a hard stone plinth and further of red brick in running bond under a hipped roof covered with dark Dutch tiles and ending in a projecting drip moulding. The facades are finished with a plastered profiled cornice and plastered corner mouldings. Three facades are dominated by centrally placed plastered risalits under steep roofs. The six-paned arched windows are decorated along the upper side with plastered profile mouldings.
The front facade (east) has a centrally placed projecting entrance section consisting of an arched panelled door under a fanlight within a profile moulding. Above the entrance a balcony with balusters on corbels is placed. The attic storey has a spout gable with a profiled partly hard stone roof edge under a steep roof. In the facade is a double arched door under an arched fanlight above which an elaborate decorative moulding is applied. Along the north facade is a conservatory on a brick plinth constructed which is closed on the east side by a three-sided bay with simple windows under fanlights. The conservatory has a hipped roof with slates in Maas bond and takes up the entire facade to the left of the risalit. A profiled moulding follows the contours of the risalit for the north facade in which on the ground floor a window within a profile moulding is placed. On the upper storey are two linked herringbone arch-shaped windows above a water drip on consoles. To the left of the risalit a window is placed. The risalits of the south and north facades have a similar design with the difference that on the upper storey of the southern risalit a double arched window is placed.
The rear facade on the west side has an extension under a lean-to roof with an entrance, a second entrance under a fanlight and a window.
Valuation
The residence built as a director's villa is of general interest because of its cultural and architectural-historical value - because of the social and economic importance of the brick factories along the Oude Rijn in previous centuries. - as an example of a building designed in neo-classical style.
