Waardering

Description
The brick building, laid in English bond, is erected on a rectangular ground plan and comprises two storeys under a hipped roof covered with red glazed tile or boulet tile. Apart from the plinth, brick-courses and relieving arches, the building is entirely rendered and painted white. The flush plinth is of fair-faced brickwork with a weathered drip moulding of brown glazed brick. The brick-courses, segmental arches and other details in the facade are executed in fair-faced brickwork, but are currently painted. The double row of wall tiles is of brown glazed brick. Most fanlights have a carved soffit with dentil moulding.
The asymmetrically arranged FRONT FACADE has a pavilion on the right, ending in a shaped gable with corner post. The ground floor has a three-sided bay with chamfered sides. The front face has a single-light sash window with 12-light fanlight, the side faces a single-light sash window with 6-light fanlight. The shaped gable projects and rests on the left and right on a small round arch in brick and in the middle on a higher positioned broad lintel above the access to the balcony. The round arches rest on plastered corbels. The overhang rests on wall pilasters with corbel brackets. The shaped gable has a carved wind brace, a false collar tie and a richly carved gable bracket. The front facade has the entrance on the left at ground floor, consisting of a wooden panelled door with two glass panels in front of which is a wrought-iron door grille and an 8-light fanlight. On the left a single-light side light with 4-light fanlight. Above the entrance a lean-to roof with red glazed tile or boulet tile. The upper storey has a single-light sash window with 10-light fanlight.
The LEFT SIDE FACADE has a pavilion on the left, ending in a shaped gable with corner post. The ground floor and upper storey each have three windows.
The RIGHT SIDE FACADE has a rectangular wooden conservatory on the left with a single-light window with 12-light fanlight in the middle of the front face and single-light windows with 6-light fanlights on the left and right. The side faces have a single-light window with 8-light fanlight in the middle and a single-light window with 4-light fanlight on the left and right. Above the conservatory a richly decorated wooden veranda with lean-to roof. The wooden balustrade has carved curved uprights. The veranda is accessed via a single-light glazed door with 12-light fanlight. To the right of the conservatory on ground floor and upper storey a single-light sash window with 10-light fanlight.
The villa is situated in a spacious garden, closed off at the street side with richly decorated wrought-iron fencing featuring, among other elements, arrow points and flowers.
Valuation
VILLA in Transitional style with influences from Art Nouveau and chalet style with front garden surrounded by ornamental wrought-iron FENCING, from around 1905.
- Of architectural historical value as a good and - especially as regards the exterior - fairly well preserved example of a villa in Transitional architecture with ornamental elements influenced by Art Nouveau and chalet style. The building stands out due to high aesthetic qualities, such as the advanced use of materials and rich ornamentation. Characteristic features include, among others, the false collar tie and the carved (window) components. There is ensemble value as part of the villa district de Parken, within which the building belongs to the villa types common around 1900, which together with older and later types and styles very well demonstrate the development of villa construction.
- Of urban planning value due to its location along the Wilhelminapark. The park still possesses a collection of historical houses preserved in fairly good condition, which together with the many private and public green elements form an attractive, valuable streetscape.
- Of cultural-historical value as a recognizable element from a social development. The building was constructed as accommodation for the new and capitally-wealthy urban elite, who preferred to settle in substantial villas in extensively planned romantic villa districts. De Parken is one of the largest and oldest villa districts of this type in our country and the development contributed to the greatly changed appearance of the village and the social stratification of its population.
