Inleiding
FOLLY, gelegen in de achtertuin van het pand Mr. van Hasseltlaan 27. De folly, geplaatst links achter in de tuin, dateert van 1 oktober 1898 en is op genoemde datum aangeboden door de burgemeester bij de Oranjeoptocht.
Omschrijving
De folly is een klein kasteelachtig bouwwerk met invloeden van de chaletstijl op rechthoekige grondslag met bakstenen onderbouw en vakwerk bovenbouw. De onderbouw is gemetseld in imitatie kruisverband en heeft gepleisterde hoekblokken. Het gebouwtje heeft een zinken schilddak met op het voor- en het rechter schild een dakkapel met zinken steekkap. De hoek rechts vóór bevat een achthoekig arkeltorentje waarvan de spits op het moment van beschrijven ontbreekt. In oorsprong stond het gebouwtje op houten klossen en had het aan de voorzijde een veranda. Thans staat het op een bakstenen basement en ontbreekt de veranda. Doordat het gehele gebouwtje wit is geschilderd valt de oorspronkelijke detaillering minder op.

Description
The folly is a small castle-like structure with influences of the chalet style on a rectangular ground plan with a brick base and half-timber upper structure. The base is laid in imitation Flemish bond and has plastered corner blocks. The small building has a zinc hipped roof with on the front and right shields a dormer window with zinc coping. The corner to the right front contains an octagonal corner turret of which the spire is missing at the time of description. Originally the small building stood on wooden blocks and had a veranda on the front. Now it stands on a brick base and the veranda is missing. Because the entire building is painted white the original detailing is less prominent.
