Inleiding
Vijf geschakelde HERENHUIZEN, gebouwd in 1876 in neo-classicistische stijl in opdracht van J.A. van Straaten.
Omschrijving Reeks gelijksoortige panden op rechthoekige plattegrond met souterrain, twee bouwlagen en mansardekappen evenwijdig aan de straat. Totaal zestien vensterassen brede voorgevel met vier assen brede lichtrisalerende middengedeelte. De gehele gevel is gepleisterd en voorzien van een hardstenen plint. De panden 2,4 en 8,10 zijn ten opzichte van elkaar gespiegeld, elk drie vensterassen breed op de begane grond. Nummer 6 vormt de middenas, waarin de deur links van het midden, en bezit als enige in de rij door consolen ondersteunde vensterdorpels in de verdieping. Eerste bouwlaag over de gehele reeks met blokkenverdeling gepleisterd. Tussen eerste en tweede bouwlaag een geprofileerde lijst. Gevelbeëindiging met geprofileerde kroonlijst. Alle panden met houten schuifvensters, de ingangen verdiept geplaatst en bereikbaar via een inpandige trap. Met uitzondering van nummers 6+ 8 heeft elk pand een dakkapel met vleugelstukken.

Description
Row of similar properties on rectangular plan with basement, two storeys and mansard roofs parallel to the street. Total sixteen window axes wide front facade with four axes wide slightly projecting central section. The entire facade is plastered and provided with a hardstone plinth. Properties 2, 4 and 8, 10 are mirrored in relation to each other, each three window axes wide on the ground floor. Number 6 forms the central axis, in which the door is left of centre, and is the only one in the row with window sills on the upper storey supported by consoles. First storey across the entire row with block division plastered. Between first and second storey a profiled moulding. Facade termination with profiled cornice. All properties with wooden sash windows, the entrances set back and accessible via an internal staircase. With the exception of numbers 6 and 8, each property has a dormer with wing pieces.

TOWNHOUSES of general importance by virtue of architectural-historical value as a good and intact example of dwelling houses erected in neo-classical style. Furthermore of urban planning value as part of a characteristic streetscape.
